oof. worms is the first game to not work with vista, and most of my games are ten years old, so lets keep the "vista sucks" out of this.

it's not the "colour problem" which i haven't seen hide nor hair of, in game (the menus are fine) everything is insanely laggy. the screen just moves at 0.00001 frame per second, quite unplayable.

i have tried many variations of reg fixes on and off, nothing doing there.

i can't be the only person to have this, surely? any ideas .-.

People that had the same problem reported that installing the latest nVidia beta drivers fixed them.

The beta drivers don't work for everyone; certainly not me. Although I can't remember if I installed the right ones. I was very confused at the time.

if Vista 158.18 is the beta (thats what it gave me when I asked for the beta drivers anyway) then it's not working for me..

158.24 (I think Vista installed this on it's own) do not work either.

The new patch has helped a bit (no land in video ram)

I figured this out a bit;

if you set the background to black with one row of sea (how I have the game anyway) the game will run fine as long as you keep the sea off your screen

this is in no way a cure, but at least it pinpoints the issue. so now I wonder, is there anyway to disable the sea animation? I'd be happy with just the blue square.

check the games graphics folder.

It's on the CD. Maybe your disc is scratched.

So use wormkit's WkFileOverride module, and then you can overwrite the animation with blank images.

No dice, unless you use the Sprite (aka Directory) editor. They're stored in WA's properitary .DIR format, called Blue.dir.

Try using Cyber's water colour changer coupled with wormkit... someone else will give you a link, I can't be bothered.

No dice. and I'm not using a disc so it's not scratched.

I will fiddle about a bit :/

edit: jees i never mentioned this at all, i am running a 7600gt, only beta drivers I can find are for the 8 series :\

fiddling results with nothing. the sea is definitely causing issue. uff, i want to worm so badly ;-;

You're not using a disc? Did you legally buy the game in the first place?

I've seen otherwise... I have the EXACT same vid card, and same driver... It's NOT the sea... Try moving yoru mouse to the left or right OFF the land... PERFECT GAMESPEED! So I think it has something to do with how the land is drawn to the screen, or just the land it's self... Because when there's nothing BUT sea on my screen, I get perfect speed and framerate.... As though I were running it on XP again. :)

Sorry for the double post, but dude with the same vid card as me.. Yuo're gonna' love me!!! First off, make sure you have the NEW update for worms... Then get these drivers, and install them... And your problems WILL BE GONE!

Go there, click I Agree at the bottom... Save the .exe, run it to extract it (just like desktop/vid) then go into that vid folder, run setup.exe, let it install (Might take a few minutes do NOT think it hung up... It will most likely pause for a good minute or two) and let it restart yuor comp. After the reboot, go ahead and delete the .exe, and the vid folder, and play worms and BE HAPPY!!!!!! LIKE I AM NOW!! !WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!

those drivers worked perfectly \o/. Thanks. I'd been using the lowest detail no land in vram thing since the patch came out, but it kept missing rope shots whenever the water was in view. Now it runs right on full detail
