This is a really frustrating problem. The games start out fine, both offline and online, and I've even been able to finish some games, but in almost every game, at some random point during actual gameplay, the game crashes (stops responding altogether), and thus forces me to reboot the computer.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the game. I have also patched the game.

My computer specs:
Motherboard: Intel Bad Axe 2
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2 GB OCZ
GPU: XFX GeForce 7800GT

Can someone please help me on this?

What version of the game do you have?

What version of the game do you have?

I checked out the frontend.exe of a freshly installed (non-patched) game, and it says the file version is 1.0.1.0. Comments-value says it's "Worms 2 European Release".

... Yes.
I'm sorry, that just seems so much like reaching. Mu PSU is a 430w Seasonic (very high quality), that handles itself perfectly even in very graphically demanding 3D games like Oblivion.

Thanks for your help, though. Any other ideas?

I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing helps. My friend, who is also using Windows XP, isn't experiencing any of these problems.

I have even made an image of the CD and played with a virtual cd-player (DAEMON Tools). I've tried to turn on and off every graphical detail in the game. I've tried to turn off all in-game music. I've turned off all other programs from the background. I've tried to enable different compatibilities to "worms2.exe", like Win95 and Win98 compatibility.

i would hazard a guess at your video card and power supply, but i dont know what a 7800 video card would need, so i am thinking your video card does not have enough power for everything and this game is exploiting a feature that obviously does not work on the under powered video card.

tho bear in mind i have no idea what a 7800 card needs.

also, your core 2 duo most likely is eating alot of power as well.

I would have thought it was more likely to be a software problem.

Try re-installing again, and once you've patched to v1.5, try using the no-cd crack (which only works with legally purchased games) from here (http://computerhead.biz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50).
You will need to copy the 'mission' and 'level' folders into C:Team17/Worms2/Data or whevere your W2 is saved before applying the no cd crack on the WP.exe.
