Purely for those nostalgic few of us, I present the Classic Speechbank for W2, WA and WWP.

A lot of people assume that the ENGLISH speechbank used in W2, WA and WWP is identical to the one used in the original Worms. In actual fact the English bank was entirely re-recorded for Worms 2 and incorporates new speech, such as "Amazing" and "Brilliant", which aren't found in the originals. The voice sounds similar but there are noticeable differences in comparison to the original.

That's why, on a whim, I have decided to convert the original speechbank from the original Amiga version of Worms for use in the second-gen Worms games. Enjoy!

[Download (http://stuff.benpaddon.co.uk/classic.zip)] - Zipped, 361 KB

Instructions
Unzip directly to the "user\speech\" folder in your WA or WWP install directory (or "data\wav\speech\" for Worms 2). The zip file creates a new folder, "Classic", and puts the new samples in there.

Update: File now includes HURRY.WAV, so it's pretty much complete.

Thanks :) I had originally wanted to use the soundfiles that came with WormsDC, however they appear to be non-standard IFF files and I couldn't find an audio editor that could open them. As it is, the speechbank is sourced from the Amiga version of Worms, which is of a slightly lower quality.

Aha!
Now you've run into the same problems that I have over 2 years ago!

Looks like I forgot to include HURRY.WAV in the original archive. Whoops! I've added it now, so if you've already snagged this then re-downlaod it and unzip again. It's only small, after all :)

Woohoo! I remember doing this years ago, which the sounds I'd extracted from the CD version of W1.

I lost that soundbank with the old hard disc though, brilliant to have it back again!

Ahh yes, I remember my Worms 1 stuff, infact I can see my "worms united and reinforcments" CD right now........on the floor...........sitting in some kind of..........ugh,

Well I doubt that'll work ever again (it has something black stuck to it)
As for the floppy disc that came with it that had a bunch of Christmas maps on it - who knows where thats gone?
I should have kept everything in my bedroom - then everything would be togeather (and clean)

Bonz has suggested I also convert the original FRENCH and GERMAN speechbanks. If anyone has a particular interest in these let me know and I'll do 'em.

My copy of Hot Fuzz arrived on Monday, and I'm likely going to put a Hot Fuzz speechbank together at some point as well.

Ooh, nice. Didn't you make a Shaun of the Dead speechbank a while ago too?

I did. I'm not overly happy with the quality of that one, though - I intend to redo it at some point. And I really want to do Spaced as well.
