Hey guys,

Ok so i was digging around my cd's and thought WOW i havn't played WA since i was a young kid, im definately gonna install this, so everything goes smoothly, i install the latest BETA update (found on this forum) and it works fine. But when i run the game, it opens, then reverts me back to the desktop and im greated with this error:

http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/3033/nod32ub4.th.jpg (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nod32ub4.jpg)

It appears nod32 anitvirus doesn't like WA, it brings it up from the taskbar when iI try to run the game, but this only happens once every restart of my pc. I "Ok" the error, then run the game again and it works.

But i'd really like to fix this, anyone know what i could do?

Thanks

Looks like it's not just NOD32 that may be the problem, unless that's just a very convincing skin for Windows XP. People have reported all sorts of W:A issues on Windows Vista - for some the game doesn't run at all. So if it's just one crash per session, you may consider yourself lucky ;)

are you running a program that lets you limit connections etc.? (IE: a program that forces a program to use X amount of bandwith)

I think it's a Vista skin, look in the bottom right corner of the screenshot.

Yeah, a skin. Notice he's using stardock window blinds, and it says Windows XP in the corner.
@cyber: Google "Vista Transformation Pack"
Try uninstalling, installing again, then using this (http://worms.thecybershadow.net/files/WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe)

Allready tried that :) didn't work :(

yes i failed to mention in the first post that im using a vista skin, i was going to put it in, but it slipped my mind.

It seems just to be Nod32 because when i turn it off, it doesn't happen the first time round, of corse i'd like to keep my virus program running and not have to exit it just to play worms... can someone else verify if its just nod32? maybe install it? anyother ideas?

I use Nod32. It's caused no problems whatsoever. But I'm also using XP.

Running Win XP with nod32 (for ~4 years), no problems. Verify by uninstalling nod32 and try to recreate the error message.

I've been using NOD32 for many years myself as well, and never had any compatibility problems with it (although I don't use the EMON and IMON modules).

Also, doh @ not noticing the OS version.

Didn't read the whole thread, but that's not a NOD32 error message. I've no idea why it crashes, but I was able to run WA both on WinXP and Vista with NOD32 installed.

I dont think the scan worked, check the images, anything rong with startup and service's?

Heh, I think that might be a bit too much for an error that pops up one time and then goes away.

Anyway, I looked up the error address in WA.exe, and it seems that W:A crashes because it fails to create a primary DirectDraw surface. You could try updating your DirectX and graphics drivers, and disabling any programs that might interfere with DirectX games (like FRAPS).

Thanks mate, but i don't use fraps unless i run it to record so its not on by default, umm as for the file checker :p :p i forgot to mention im running a custom version of windows XP that a friend gave me, everythings modded for it to run smoother with games so im guessing it disabled the checker to stop files because replace back to default (dont worry i do own legit versions of windows XP, thats the only reason im using the custom version) umm i found out that if i click numerous times during the "Team 17" intro it skips the error and works fine Nod32 still pops up but doesn't display the error, its just open when i exit the game... so yeah... i guess it might be the intro movie?

Oh! Try adding /nointro to W:A's command-line properties.

To do this, right-click the W:A icon on your desktop (or from wherever you launch it), select Properties, open the Shortcut tab, and in the field labeled as "Target", add a space and /nointro at the end. So, if you for example had "C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon\WA.exe", you should change that to "C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon\WA.exe" /nointro.

This will disable the intro screens. I heard they gave problems to some people, so let us know how this works out for you.

Thanks mate, i gave this a try, it worked and there was no error, but still strangely enough it minimized the game (before i saw the main menu) back to the desktop, no error, but still minimized, all i had to do was click it again down the bottom and it maximized and worked, but still, nod32 popped up again, just no error  Anyway, i think ill get a different anti-virus program :)

Now while im posting, instead of making a new thread, when i first installed worms, when i was in any menu, all the objects were flying in the background EXTREMELY fast, like they were on steroids lol. Now i open the game and everythings just like it was back on win98, all slow and normal, i dont mind this but what its done is now my mouse is abit laggy and doesn't respond to well on the menus... just curious to know what has happened, any ideas?

Try running SlowFrontendWorkaround_On.reg and see if that changes anything.
