When your friends are online, have you ever noticed the status message below the "Playing Worms" line?

Other than the usual "Worming their way through game set-up", "Under pressure in a Player Match" or "Edging ahead in a Player Match", I've noticed a few different ones such as:

"Contacting base for an aerial bombardment" (when you use the Air Strike weapon obviously)

These kinds of messages don't display for very long, but are funny to see.

It's called "Rich presence" in games - a lot of games do it.

I think it's gotta be said that if there was a ''richest presence award'' Worms would be right up there. Some of the messages are excellent and there seems to be more than in any other game I can think of.

Good to see the team put a lot of thought into it, too many games don't bother and have generic ''online - playing single/multi player"

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved and Hitman: Blood Money are good examples of that.

As far as the best ones that have very good online status messages would have to be:

Worms and Alien Hominid for Xbox Live Arcade games.

Crackdown (a.k.a. Riot Act in Japan), The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Perfect Dark Zero, Test Drive Unlimited, and Guitar Hero II for retail games.
