Are they ever going to make a patch that makes this thing work? I'm tired of jumping through hoops only to find it still doesn't work on XP. They're not still selling this game, are they?

Ehrm, the game DOES work on Windows XP.
The latest beta update is v3.6.26.5 (http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/WA_update-3.6.26.5_Beta_Installer.exe) and the next one is soon to be released.

Do you have the Trymedia version?

Or an illegal copy?

I have my backup from when I first got the game back in 2000, when I was using Windows 98, on my pentium 2, using freewwweb's free dialup internet access. The CD has since desintegrated. Ah, good times, nostalgia, etc.

What the hells trymedia? And what do you mean illegal? Why are those the only two options? Does the origional retail no longer work?

No, it's just Trymedia and illegal copies are the two largest reasons for people's copys not working.

So what happens when you run the game exactly? Error messages? You say you have a "backup", do you mean you copied the original CD onto another?

I ripped the game to an ISO and kept it on my external HD, I don't think it was corrupted or anything and it installs fine. I installed the patches. I ran it using Daemon Tools with YASU cloaking. It works fine until I actually start a level, which immediately results in this

Thats a recreation, as I can't take a screengrab of it. It does this on every resolution, with or without patch.

I'd blame those grey lines on a bad CD or bad video drivers, not on the patches.

Edit: Hot damn, it works, they must have just released a driver for my card, I updated a couple weeks ago when I got STALKER

Thanks for the help

In today's lesson we learn that this kind of thing:
Are they ever going to make a patch that makes this thing work? I'm tired of jumping through hoops only to find it still doesn't work on XP. They're not still selling this game, are they?
is never enough information to solve the problem.

The XP compatibility issue was solved by a patch ages ago, so what did you honestly think would happen if you asked if there was a patch to make it work on XP? I do wish people would post proper questions that have answers. It'd make life so much easier.

Judging by his location as well as his post I don't think he's the sort of person who can approach a problem without agrily shouting at everyone and banging his fist on the table
