Is it possible to run WA in windowed mode?

Nope, unfortunately.

But:
1) If you have installed the latest update (see www.nanacide,com/wahelp ) you can minimize the game in all areas, including the frontend (click at the very bottom of the screen) and in game (esc + minimize game)
2) If you are running it in Linux via wine ( www.nanacide.com/wahelp again), you can run it in a window then, but you can't minimize it!

Use Linux and install WA with Wine, you can play windowed. BUT! I've heard that with this new patch you'll be able to play WA windowed, such a shame since this used to be an only-linux users feature. :rolleyes:

Windowed mode won't come until 4.0 - making the game with its current paletted display mode work in a window is close to impossible. Wine does that by emulating DirectDraw altogether.

So for a windowed mode you need to rewrite the entire colour display method?

Sounds like v4 is basically a total rewriting of the game! (Good luck)

It's a way to run worms in a window, even though technically it's being run full screen on a virtual machine... although considering the palette system, does that even work?

yes, tho you need a fast connection for colour, but black and white is a'ok.

oh, sorry i was thinking of a er network desktop thingie...

Worms via VMWare works, but sadly lacks perfomance.
