View Full Version : Why only 4 custom teams?

I didn't see this in the FAQ so I thought I'd post it, hoping for an official explanation.

I'm not a big online fan and like the previous worms (Worms 1, 2, ARM, WWP), we've (a group of longtime friends) always played together. Now that it's on the 360 and we're able to play on a big screen in HD, on the couch no less (finally, no more cramming 4+ guys around a monitor) we decided we'd start playing some Worms on the 360.

We were extremely disappointed when we tried to create our 5th custom team only to have the game tell us the max was 4 :( :( :(

Is there any reason why this limitation was put in place? I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to increase this limit to 10 or 20? I mean, isn't it a simple question of memory space (either HDD or Memory card)?.

I'm hoping I can get an official explanation for this and crossing my fingers for possibly getting this limit bumped up to at the very least 10.

Thanks!

It is a space limitation, blame Microsoft for not allowing profiles to store enough data. Apparently MS limits the profile size to a few KB and with all the stats, team17 managed to use this up. You can store teams on different profiles but it won't let you mix teams from different profiles even if both are logged in.

That's silly.

Is there any chance of getting this changed?

The option to mix teams from two profiles could be added, although from what I can gather I don't think it's a priority (the current patch has a few bugs to fix first, and those are priority stuff). The space limitation would have to be changed by Microsoft and then Team17 would have to update Worms to use it, so that's even less likely.

It'd really be nice if Team17 allowed different teams from different profiles to mix and match.

I really find it absurd we can only load 4 custom teams.

Then there wouldn't be as much limitation (I'm sure games like Elder Scrolls IV store way more data than Worms ever could). This would also have allowed you to delete your Worms game save seperately from your profile.

Storing it seperately would have been better (so you can delete it without erasing your profile). Galaga does this, so some arcade games were able to do it. I don't know if it would have allowed for more space but it should. Elder Scrolls IV is not an arcade game so does not have to follow the same rules.

I'm still hoping for some kind of official stance on this issue. It's really bumming me us out having to recreate our teams every single time :(

Can't you just create some generic teams for your mates or are they THAT picky they have to have their own customised team? Who paid for the console and game in the first place, hmm?

it's not really that worMatty,

it's the fact that:

1) I don't play on XBL, just local with friends
2) It's nice to see our statistics of W/L/etc. hard to do when you only have 4 teams and 9 people playing.

Jesus, that's what I call a party. You must have a massive sofa, or one well-worn one.

Fair enough.
