View Full Version : Request: Worm Name Toggle

I meant to post this some time ago and was reminded by the following post by DarthSmurf in another thread, though this deserved its own!

Having the names obscure the play field can completely ruin a turn - especially when players give the worms really long names!

An option to toggle these on/off would be wonderful.

My suggestion would be to either:

A) Assign this feature to the Back button

B) Switch Zoom In/Out to use only one trigger, then use the other to toggle the worm names.

This is very minor, but has happened to me a number of times. I'm on a ledge and just below the ledge is my target worm. Now I can either drop a mine over the ledge or use my shotgun. But I can't see where the ledge ends because the worm's name and stats are blocking it. I would like some way to hide the name so you can see what's behind it if you need to in these instances. I don't want to fall off the ledge by going too far and I don't want to drop the mine on the very edge of the ledge either.

Do you really think this will be put into the game?

It's been in past Worms titles, so who knows.

The chances are even lower if no request is ever made...

The left and right buttons could be used for toggling things.

You have a point.... I forget about those things :D

When I used to play Worms on PS1 the circle and square buttons were used to toggle names aswell as locking the camera to the action.

If possible, can we have a camera toggle aswell please, you know how frustrating it can be when you want to look around the map when it's another teams turn and the camera locks onto their worm.

Yep. Especially at the start, you can't get a good look around the map because of the camera snapping to the active worm every time it wiggles.

Although you can zoom out... ;)

That's what I was going to suggest.

That would fix your "name text" problem aswell :p

No, it wouldn't.

Zoom out that far just so you can see the an edge you are near.... but now can't see it because the camera is panned out and there isn't enough visual clarity... and add in the background obscuring the level, it just doesn't help.

Besides, in zoom out the reticle stays the same size, which actually really sucks (imo), because now it also obscures the play field.

I know, I was being sarcastic. :D

Zooming out doesn't really help out when you're trying to make a last minute strategy change when it's your turn next and you're up against the clock.

That's why it would be nice to have a toggle for this aswell, your suggestions are welcome but in this instance I think you've overlooked something.

Haha, understood. :)

I'm a bit confused about the camera issue though, as I thought you were complaining about the camera moving during other player's turns, which means it would have nothing to do with last minute strategy changes... because it isn't your turn.

Now if you are also suggesting this for helping with your turn, I could see how being able to "snap" back to your active worm could be nice. In that situation, though, couldn't you just tap "up" and cause the camera to automatically snap back to your worm?

Perhaps I'm just not understanding what you are saying...

Snap-back is done by pressing the right stick.
