View Full Version : Ninja Rope Glitch

I found what I think is a glitch. I am pretty sure you are only supposed to be able to use one weapon per turn; However, if you are on the ninja rope, and you drop a weapon, with 'x', and then you press 'a' to cancel the ninja rope, and fire another rope right away you can hit 'x' again and drop another weapon. Has this happened for anyone else?

woah. mega glitch. to anyone trying to reproduce, you need to drop completely to the ground after dropping the weapon, and then re-fire the rope. doesn't work if you re-fire the rope in the air.

also, if you drop the same kind of a weapon, it seems to replace the first one, but if you drop a different one, you end up deploying two weapons in one turn.

good find. hopefully, it will get patched. this can be exploited in the worst ways.

Very nice find. I think I'm going to stay away from ranked games until this gets taken care of.

just managed to do 78 points of damage using a 'nade-'zook combo off the rope. very easy to do. if you have no dynamite or mines, the rope defaults to 'zook. if there is low wind, it's very easy to plant a 'nade next to a target, and hit it with the 'zook almost at the same time as the 'nade goes off.

Now this is a horrible bug...

I'll still play ranked games, but if I see ANY player exploiting it they are getting reported ASAP.

If you have unlimited rope, you can drop 4 or 5 explosives using this glitch.

yeah, you can keep dropping weapons until the retreat timer runs out. i think i know what causes the bug, too. instead of limiting the number of weapons that you can use per-turn, using certain weapons simply prevents you from selecting a weapon. so the weapon select panel is blocked, but if you were able to select a weapon, you'd be able to use it. the rope auto-selects a weapon for you when you fire it. therefore, you bypass the weapon selection block, and can keep using the weapons.

another interesting observation is that the game only allows a single instance of dynamite. you can drop two mines off the rope, for example, but only one stick of dynamite. if you drop dynamite again, which happens if you have more than one stick, the subsequent drops replace the stick you dropped first.

i'm going to see if something similar can be done with the jet pack. (doesn't work)

edit: based on the glitch, i propose a new game scheme: rope bomber. you get infinite ropes and infinite mines. the game is played in a cavern level. general strategy is to try to place your own worms on hill tops, so that they don't get damaged by multiple mine drops. it's a piece of cake to do 150+ points of damage to a worm in a hole with a scheme like that. if this gets patched, one glitch less. if not, at least there is a new game out of it.

i dont see why its such a big deal to you. i havnt done it, but so what if they do it in a ranked game??? you only get 3 ropes anyways so its not like they can keep doing it as many times as they want. if its that worth it to use up a rope, then fine, now you cant swing over to me later on.

Well, for one thing, given the right circumstances, one enemy worm could potentially kill 3 of your worms in one turn, before you even have a chance to go (like, if there are a lot of pits that your worms happen to be near). Normally, he'd only be able to kill one.

Would you think it's fair starting out with only one worm, against his four (or more, if there are more players)?

Looks like I'm going to finally beat all the challenges.

I probably would of beat them by now, but ranked games have been holding me back. Online play is too addicting, especially since a few of my friends now have Worms.

that sucks... this better be fixed... i played in a game today and a person was going it, i told him thats cheating... they replied back why is it cheating when it allows us to do it, i told them i highly doubt that it was intended to let you do that.

Bottom line is taking advantage of glitches is also considered cheating, and i will report everyone i see who uses it.. affecting your overall rep... as i consider it unsportsman like behaviour

its not the point you are creating a unfair advantage by taking advantage of the glitch.. and it ruins the fun of the person who happened to be the target

thats a stupid idea... however with light of this glitch if i host a game ill make a game simular to full wormage with one difference no ropes! at least until this glitch is fixed

This glitch made Challenge 4 really fun. It's still extremely difficult to pass that challenge in one turn since you have to be insanely fast, have perfect control and a bit of luck. I wish there were more challenges that could be done in one turn (without glitches). Challenge 1 is the only one.

I also hate that you can still do the anti gravity rope trick. I've seen lots of people do it, they stick a rope on a surface that is facing the sky, and then they can stand up and get over things.

Argh.

I was messing around with a friend and we set up girders up by the ceiling on a sharp angle so that we could drop mines all the way down to the bottom without setting them off. We just kept taking turns adding to the huge piles of mines and probably dropped over 100 per pile, then jumped in. It did 800 damage on one worm, and then the other one actually froze both our xboxes!

Oh, and Wormetti -- I see u in 3rd place there on challenge 4, good job. I worked on that one a while and finally got first. Good luck beating that time! ;)
