I cannot figure out how to play local multiplayer with a single controller. It is turn based, so I should be able to play, then pass the controller to my wife.
Can anyone help me please?

Go to Multiplayer, Local Game, and add at least two human-controlled teams to the game. Then Start the game and you're good!
