SEE SPADGE'S POST BELOW FOR FAQs

As with the release of any game, the same few questions get asked over and over again. IN an effort to keep this forum tidy, I've been merging threads of the same topics, as we've had three threads on the go for both "Guest players in live" and online issues.

So, here are some links to the important threads. If a topic isn't listed here, please do a search (http://forum.team17.co.uk/search.php) first to see if it has already been discussed.

Some Major Online problems...: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=31889
Quick answer: When the game is full, wait 30 seconds to a minute before starting the game. This stops people trying to join and causing a crash.

Guest players on Live?: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=31901
Quick answer: This is not possible.

Name filtering in Multiplayer: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=31929
Quick answer: Xbox Live filters worm and team names it considers "offensive" and isn't very good at it.

"Lack of Weapons":
Quickish answer: Team17 wanted to keep the weapons list minimal to take the game back to Worms1-era and to prevent a steep learning curve. No further weapons will be added via DLC or whatever. See this post for info from Spadge about DLC: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=556076&postcount=121

Try to keep the discussions in these threads - I will try to merge any new threads into existing ones, where applicable. It makes things a lot easier to follow

Hearing a few of the grumbles, here are responses:

Why no extra voices and only 3 themes?
- There was a 50mb limit in place, we used it all up (mainly on localised voice banks, which was a requirement). The limit wasn't our choice unfortunately. The visual themes take up a lot more space than you think - and most of the space isn't the 3d background, it's the size of the textures and objects used in high-definition. Space hasn't limited weapons, that was more an early design choice. A ton of voices, "missing audio tracks" and a range of additional themes ARE coming (see below) and quite a bit of this is currently envisaged to be free - it has NOT been arranged as a sneaky way of extruding your microsoft points away.

Why didn't we use the "150mb limit"?
- This was not in place when we developed the game and only occured very, very recently. A 50mb limit was in place during the completion and certification of the title.

Why aren't there more weapons?
- We wanted a leaner, easier to get, more casual title for this service. We are aware of the stronger feelings of the hardcore and will bear it in mind. However, weapons via downloadable content will not occur on this edition. This is "Worms" not Worms2, Worms Armageddon, World Party or even Worms 3D.

Why are the physics different from other games in the series?
- It's all new code, art, everything. There are reasons for this internally at Team17. Obviously we continue to strive to develop a good level of entertainment and visuals where possible.

Where's the downloadable content?
- It's coming, we have to work with Microsoft on this - we can't just put out what we like.

How much and what will the downloadable content be?
- This will be a mixture of great value (i.e. FREE!) content and the usual themes, tags/icons etc. More themes, audio and tons of voices are coming. We do not wish for anyone to feel "ripped off" and hope to provide a lot of good-will where we can. I'd imagine the first lot of DLC will be available soon, once the dust has settled on the title.

Connection Problems?
- I think these appear to be minor considering the amount of use the service is experiencing right now. I've played a few games without issue - but I'm only just back from being in the USA. Most of the major problems sorted themselves out as the service settled down. Many multiplayer games suffer from hooking players up into a game because by the time you've tried to join a game, it's been filled up by other players. Since this never happens immediately, we're limited in what we can do I'm afraid. We're looking at cleaning it up where we can.

Some Leaderboard problems?
- There seems to be a couple of issues with the correct leaderboards being shown etc, I think this (and a few other minor items) are being investigated right now.

Why are there still bugs in the game?
- Despite continued and large scale testing, it's generally impossible to fully test and catch all issues, particularly in relation to the multiplayer server side. Testing with a couple of dozen people for a few months is no substitue for a stressed server with 50-200,000 games being played over a couple of days. People have different set-ups, internet connections, behaviours, etc etc. Anything major will obviously be fixed and we'll look at cleaning up elsewhere whilst we have an opportunity.

What will happen when I get downloadable content and the other players don't have it?
- For voices this is irrelevent, since it will revert to the standard if missing (as it always has on the PC editions). For themes, you can choose which themes ALL the players have, it will not send them since the size can be quite large and this will take a lot of time (a UNO deck is much bigger!).

Why aren't there weapons in this game like WWP/WA? Why isn't this game like WA/WWP? Why doesn't this game have as many weapons as WA/WWP Etc., Etc., Etc.....

Spadge sums this up brilliantly in this post: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showpost.php?p=568067&postcount=64

To summarise below, for those too lazy to click a link, and with key areas highlighted:

It's an update of the original game, not Armageddon or World Party.

Too many options will totally complicate the game for new users - and people new to Worms - of which there are many. There are many reasons for the decisions made and they are elsewhere on this forum.

Having so many options & weapons would also have meant we would have needed a 6-9 month beta test at the very least. This is a $10 (2-3 beer price point) title and we have to take that into consideration in terms of it's development. Even without all the options you have requested, it was over a year from start to release.

I'd really disagree that it's not fun, people seem to be really enjoying it. I can appreciate you miss a few of the more iconic weapons such as the HHG but the aim was to get back to the strategic balance of the original game and re-introduce the title to a new generation.

Sometimes, less = more.
