View Full Version : Number of teams in play?

First off a note - there is now a Worms sub-forum on the official XBL forums ;)

I just read something there that I wanted to ask about. Someone posted that the game is limited to two teams, so if you play 3 or 4 players, it's 2 on 1 or 2 vs. 2, not three or four separate teams.

Is that correct?

You can choose to do free for all (1 v 1 v 1 v 1) < four teams battling each other here

You can also do 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 3v1, 1 v 1 v 1...

So there's alot of options ^^
For yourself or teamed up

from what I've read it's only the free for all method (1 v 1 v 1 v1 )

any other combination would have to be an un-official agreement between players.

Well I hope either of those is true and not what I read - because 2vs2 is nowhere near as much fun as a three or four way free for all!

If 2 v 2 isn't possible, then deathmatch also is impossible

There are 20 missions where the CPU gets more worms, but a team can only have 4 worms... So they'll have to team up to prefent shooting each other :)

I think there's some confusion here. The TRIAL version of the game is limited to 2 player offline play be that CPU vs Human or Human vs Human.

The FULL version allows up to 4 human players online and offline. There is no in-built team mechanism although you may as suggested side with another player in an unoffical team.

Thanks for clearing that up! I was pretty concerned when I heard that there was no way to have 3 or 4 teams in a game.

Not true. No game on XBLA allows multiplayer for DEMO's, Microsoft rules.

So will the 4 players on-line only control 1 worm each, or is that customizable?

Each online player will control a team of 4 worms against 3 other players. In free for all format. There is no teams in this game, but players may team up with each other to recreate a team like game. No matter what, the game will recognize each different player as an individual team.

Example:

Joe, Sally, Mark, Lisa want to play a 2v2 game of worms. The game sets them up in a free for all. Joe and Sally agree to team up against Mark and Lisa. Joe and Sally dominate Mark and Lisa. Joe and Sally then finish the game by battling each other.

I hope this helps clears things up.

Hey Turboman, got any more facts for those of us that actually made the game?

Are you sure? What are you basing that on Turboman?

I'm pretty sure Marble Blast Ultra had a multiplayer mode on the trial/DEMO version.

How about you listen to Lebowski, since he's the Worms XBLA programmer. I have a feeling he knows what hes talking about.

I don't need to be a programmer to know Microsoft do not allow XBLA demo's to be played over live. Unless they made an exception with worms I don't know.

The XBLA demo DOESN'T allow play over live. Did you READ Lebowski's post?

I think the distinction that was missed is the difference between multiplayer, and multiplayer online.
