Just dusted off my old CD of Worms Armageddon and found out that I need the version 3.0 patch to run it under XP. Installed Worms Armageddon, restarted, installed the patch, then when I loaded the game 3 times in a row I got these 3 errors....
The instruction at "0x00406944" referenced memory at "0x0003f02c". The memory could not be "read" Click OK to terminate
and
An Eception Illegal Instruction. An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction (0xc000001d) occured in the application at location "0x00406947"
and then
The instruction at "0x00406942" referenced memory at "0x6352156e". The memory could not be "written" Click OK to terminate.

Am I being an idiot and installing a patch wrong, if that's possible.
Also, after installing the patch a word document tries to open and says something like it can't open it in word 6.0
Any Ideas?

Have a look at www.nanacide.com/wahelp.
There's lots of tutorials and info about applying the patch and the beta updates.
AFAIK, there's only one specific version of WA that needs the 3.0 patch before you can apply the beta update.

If all else fails, you'll find a third party installer there too.

BTW, you can ignore the error with the wordpad document.

That nailed it. Figured out that WA was crashing only when I moved my USB mouse during game play. Installed the reccommended patch and am back in. Thanks for that link.

You installed the latest beta update I suppose?
Thanks for that link.
You're welcome.
