Is this a common issue? I have a Dell USB keyboard, and WA simply doesn't recognize keystrokes. If I use a PS/2 keyboard it works fine. Any suggestions?

Yes, use the ps/2.

You're better off with a ps/2 IMO, but there's USB ones that work just as well (almost as well IMO).

I'm sure there's already a topic about keyboards around, do some searching, if you can't find anything either wait for people to recommend you keyboards or do trial before buying, although most USB keyboards will work fine with WA (keylock is another thing)

As said before, keylocks have nothing to do with the connector type, but only how the keyboard it built.

I've never heard about this issue. I'm pretty sure W:A works with at least some USB keyboards.
Maybe the keyboard has a weird driver which interacts with the device directly, and sends keystrokes to applications directly rather than using Windows' keyboard driver system.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with any other games/programs. Also, though it's a Dell keyboard, my computer is home built, not a Dell. I just liked the keyboard. It required no special drivers or programs or anything, so I don't think there's a keyhook situation happening here. Very strange.

Your problem might be related to some BIOS settings regarding USB support. Try with USB keyboard support on Disabled - this will disable msdos support but as Windows loads the proper driver will be installed if it is not already. Also, if this funtion is already disabled, turn it on and check how Worms behaves. Various mobo controllers are acting weird. I've seen mainboards where you had to Disable USB2 support in order to get the USB2.0 ports to work etc. How does the keyboard behave on a different USB port? Give it a try, it might give a difference. Be sure all the dust is out of the backconnector. Maybe even a BIOS update would solve the problem, so look for it on the manufacturers website.


edit: then again.... it's a Dell keyboard so just maybe they put a little circuitry inside to let it work correctly with Dell mobo's only... ya never know

Well, after reading this thread I decided to give it a shot again. It worked without a hitch. *shrug* I'll post again if anything changes.

The problem wasn't with the keyboard, it was with the guy who was trying to use it. I have two monitor's, and my secondary monitor is a Dell LCD with built in USB ports. When I tried to play WA, I turned off my secondary monitor because the game made the image messed up (something to do with the resolution). Anyway, I had forgotten that I'd plugged my USB keyboard into the monitor's USB ports, and the monitor's hub turns off when the monitor is turned off.

In short, there's nothing wrong with using a USB keyboard for WA, I'm just an idiot.
