Is there already a thread where people are posting their Wii numbers?

Mine is 2207776144035695, if anyone wants to see various T17 devs and their famillies wander onto their Mii parade.

My Wii isn't online yet, indeed it hasn't even been taken out of the box. Also it's in another country. So... er... no code from me just yet.

You shall be added once I'm settled in LA.

I can see Nintendo really thought that through.

"Now, we can either have people sign up with stupid nicknames using a variety of letters, symbols, and numbers that they can remember, or we can give them a stupidly long number to remember"

Note; I don't own a Wii or know how its online facilities work, so forgive me if the above post makes me sound like a total idiot.

The Wii's internet system is based on friend codes.
This is so we only have to play with people we know, and not with strangers.
A unique code is automatically set for each Wii, I think.

This method means that we won't ever be bothered by people we don't willingly give the code to.
For two Wii systems to be connected, both users have to input each others codes.

There are probably reasons why we can't choose our Wii password ourselves. One of which is for privacy. You're only going to be contacted by people you give the code to (And possibly people who just randomly input numbers.)

The TV in my room is in a corner, so the right side of it (It's left) is up against a wall. And infront of it is the foot end of my bed. So I don't know how I would be able to play Wii on it.

That's how my brother's is set up in his halls. He uses it mostly for games like Wii Play and Zelda that don't require much swinging about. If he wants to play Wii sports or a multiplayer or something he just moves the whole thing to the front room. It probably weighs about the same as a small book, so it's hardly a major inconvenience.

I think my real reason for not getting one yet is the lack of games. Zelda and Metroid Prime 3 is not enough.

Been gone since the forum upgraded to vB3.0 - we're now on vB3.6.5....

Not easily, as we don't have a current webmaster (I think Sel looked for a hack, but couldn't find any that worked properly). Best thing to do is just to wait for the mods to notice and we'll (well, me probably :p) merge them - only a few clicks!

I've heard tell that not only will there be console numbers, there'll be individual game numbers as well. I guess when Smash Bros. Brawl comes out we'll know for certain.

I honestly don't use my Wii very much. I thought Twilight Princess was hugely overrated, Super Paper Mario has some glaring issues with the core gameplay, and there aren't too many games on the Virtual Console that I'm interested in. I actually picked up a PS2 more recently and have been having far more fun with it. I'll say it now: the Wii's third-party support is tanking pretty hard at this point, and I don't see it improving anytime soon. I admire Nintendo for trying something new, and it honestly works, but let's not forget this is also the day and age in which innovation is the last thing any game publisher wants; they want guaranteed sales with tried-and-true formulas.

Edit: Added all

Yeah yeah yeah, whatever. You're still upset because you have the wrong version.:p Twilight princess was MEANT for the GameCube. And THUS, it is better on the GC. I enjoyed every second of that game, and that made it live up to all the hype. At least for me...and Zeor as I recall.

I admire Nintendo for trying something new, and it honestly works, but let's not forget this is also the day and age in which innovation is the last thing any game publisher wants; they want guaranteed sales with tried-and-true formulas.

They kinda get guaranteed sales with the Wii, on the condition that they actually make the game FUN. (A good game means sales no matter what style of gameplay it is. I know I am getting tired of the endless FPS games that only add a little differences in the next game, and so on.) I mean so many people I know have a Wii or are getting one, I don't know why people would stop buying games at least to try them. I know people in there 40's with no children planning to buy a Wii. I would say that the Wii adds traditional gameplay along with a new alternative to playing games. Just because it has motion sensors and stuff doesn't mean you HAVE to use it all the time.

I like using the Wii remote to slash my sword and point my shooty things in the Wii version of Twi Pri. I thought not being able to have full control over my slash movements with the remote would be a problem, but it's still quite enjoyable. Doing special moves in combination with the nunchuk is great. The Wii version also benefits from nicer water features and a clever "Ahh-aahhhh, ahh-ahhhh-ahhhHHHH!" Wii channel intro before you start the game, which adds atmosphere.

Pigbuster
11 Jun 2007, 04:02
I don't think better controls are going to make the game any less boring, really.
There just wasn't enough to do. It was a thoroughly linear experience for me.

But hey, I didn't like Ocarana of Time nearly as much as everyone else did, so there you go. (Wind Waker is my fave).

Vader
12 Jun 2007, 18:48
I'm still only about 6 or 7 hours into Twilight Princess but I have to say I'm enjoying it, even if the Wii Remote gestures are only simulating button presses and have no real motion sensing accuracy.

My girlfriend and I recently bought Kororinpa, which is pretty much a cross between Monkey Ball and Mercury. It's a bit shorter than I expected (although I suspect we are yet to unlock everything) but it feels a good length. Any more and I might have found it a bit repetitive. Having said that it is a really fun game and although the motion sensing spacks out a bit when the remote is upside down it really demonstrates the sensitivity of the sensors therein. It also highlights the potential the Wii has for intuitive manipulation of objects within 3D space, be it a maze you're tilting and twisting through 360 degrees (is it 129600 if it's 3D?) or a baseball bat you're pummelling some pauper with.

I shall add those of you who have added me tonight. Yee shall see my mii. Yippee!

Kororinpa is a lot like what Monkey Ball might have been if it didn't suck.

I've only played Monkey Ball once but it was with lots of friends and on a projector, so it may have been more fun than if I had played it with a couple of friends or alone but I thought it was pretty cool.

I would like to play Elebits (Eledees here, although I still think Elebits sounds better). It looks like it would be quite enjoyable, perhaps not as a game but just to mess around with.

MadEwokHerd
15 Jun 2007, 00:03
Monkey Ball's multiplayer mode consists of a completely different set of games. Although IMO most of those aren't very good either..

Well if you choose to get Ele(bits|dees) you'd better enjoy it as a game, because until you at least clear the first few missions you won't be able to do much messing around with it.

It is quite enjoyable to mess around without goals though, once you get to the point where you can freely do so (to play missions without a time limit, you have to find a pink elebit, which is sometimes.. difficult or in my case impossible because I don't know what I'm supposed to do before I can see one). The rest of the game isn't bad either.

Vader
15 Jun 2007, 19:58
It was the single player Monkey Ball we were doing, just passing the remote around trying to pass as many levels as possible.

It's good to hear Eledees is good. I think I'd enjoy it after a day at work as much as I do Kororinpa. It looks pretty light-hearted, something I've found more and more attractive in a game recently.

Wasn't that the entire premise behind the Pokemon series?

Besides, it makes perfect financail sense. If you can only unlock certain things by having mates that also have a copy of the game, you'll encourage these mates to all buy a copy, rather than buy one copy and share it round, like I do with one of my mates.

That was a fun game btw. Although In some parts it started to lag quite a bit. As you can see I'm rubbish at recovering when I'm falling off the edge. :p

Anyway, I have added all the Wii numbers in this thread, and here's mine: 2432 1362 7652 4794.

On another note, is it possible to play like 2 persons in one console versus other people on the internet?

Squirminator2k
14 Apr 2008, 00:42
Yes, but only in Friend matches so far as I can see. All you have to do is press Start or + on another controller during the Character Select screen to add an additional local player.

Good game too, incidentally. Well played. What was it, 3-2 to you?

Dunno didn't keep count. But I definitely won more. :p

For some reason my brain registered the first four digits as fine, and I spent all my time scrutinising the other eight.

Good ol' brain.

I'll be back to get more, SO HURRY UP!

Also, since there is an option to play 12 at once, I say we have an OD race or something.

Agreed. We should make sure everyone's on MSN or something for some random fun or schedule it. Imagine 12 ODers or wormers.

So far I've played Paul and Slick and I have to say, downtimes aside, it's a very smooth online experience. I can't wait until we get more people together.

Also, Nintendo Wi-Fi has gotten a whole more unstable since the US release. :(

I have added everyone on this thread already.

I've been playing it quite a lot recently, and man, does anyone remember when the lighting strike was like, effing rare? Now I spend like half of the race in miniature state. Also I loathe those blue shells... there should at least be a way to avoid them. :p
