Hello all, just recently found this game collecting dust in my closet, got a nostalgic feeling, and decided to install it. Unfortunately, it won't work. I've tried everything, compatibility mode, 256 colors, the works.

What happens is, after I select all the stuff I want in the game and click launch, it goes to a black screen and nothing happens. At all.

I was just wondering if this had anything to do with Windows XP, or maybe because I have too powerful a video card. Any help would be much appreciated.

None of that should be a problem, W2 works fine with XP.

Are you running any patches?
A lot of people have this problem when trying to run the no-cd crack with-out copying the correct files across from the CD.

Something related to that, you said the game was gathering dust. Wipe all that dust off the disc and maybe check it for scratches as well.

the same thing happens for me. not sure why... i think it is an xp issue, or perhaps a hardware issue. i tried worms2 and armageddon and they both do the same thing.

worms 2 and w:a work fine and dandy under windows XP... you guys most likely have something screwed within your windows environment.

Just thought I'd bump this thread to say I'm having the same problem with worms 2 under XP.

Is it possibly because I have a really new gfx card (nVidia 8800)?

yep, drivers for that card suck at the moment.

I have the same problems. Just built a new computer with 8800 gtx and quad core and it dies at a black screen when I try to start a game. It is so bad I have to do a hard reset.

Any help?

buy a different video card.
