No doubt it'll be fscking expensive, though. It's like a tiny handheld computer, for chrissakes.
And they better make sure it doesn't have any problems like low battery life.

Seriously, though. If they make a great product, it will combine with the iPod's engrained status in society (there have been many MP3 players that are superior to the iPod, but Apple has been able to defeat all of them simply because people want an iPod) they have a chance of dominating the entire mobile market with this thing.

And a touch screen! Eee!

Surely there's a better name than iPhone, though...
especially since the phone part is only a bit of what it can do.

"The iPocalyse".
Now that just rolls off the tongue.

What company is gonna provide the coverage/service for this thing? Or is it gonna be like any other mobile phone that you just activate with whichever company you want or something?
Or how does it work?

It's for Cingular Wireless over in the US. And it's an exclusive...so blah. I honestly think it's cool and all, but I personally don't want one. At least not enough to spend $400-600 on a phone. I lose my phone enough as it is, and I would absolutly FREAK OUT if I lost that.

I read that the cheapest version with 4GB will cost $499.- WITH a contract.

There are already better PDA/MP3-player/phone combinations on ther market.

Remember that it is a two-year contract, so surely that must be worth over $100.

Apparently, Cisco are sueing apple for using the name "iPhone", since they already own the USA trademark (Apple & Cisco were in talks beforehand)

Usually when people say "£X with contract" it means £X on top of the contract -- service contracts tend to subsidise hardware. Contract prices are never quoted as a total because that sounds like more. They're quoted monthly, as a rule.

The price without a contract is the better judge of what's expensive.

Ah right - I just have a PAYG mobile, so I don't really know much about mobile phone contracts :)

Seriously, how on earth can you say this, the interface and integration are miles ahead of anything else available in the United States

You awnsered your own question in that sentence.

I don't see what makes it so "revolutionary". It doesn't seem to be much different from the current phones on the market.

To me it just strikes me as another really expensive alternative, much like the iPod.
