When forwarding ports to enable hosting do I have to be on the Computer where the router is located? Because I'm on a LAN with my dad and my bro and the router is on dad's computer. So do I have to forward the ports from my dad's computer? If so, would I still forward them to my LAN I.P (192.168.0.2) or dad's (192.168.0.1)? I do know which port to forward: 17011.

Is your computer connected directly to the router, or somehow connected through your dad's computer? I'm not entirely sure how the router can be "on" your dad's computer. Unless it's somehow buried inside of it, I would assume that your dad connects to your router the same way you and your bro do (i.e. with a wire or with wireless)

If the former, then forward the port to your LAN address.

Ok well the router connection is at dad's computer but we (bro and I) connect to it through the cable outlets in the walls of our rooms to get to it.

Ah well just forward it to your LAN ip then.

does it matter if the router is at your computer or sombody elses?

if so, what would you do differently for the two?

It doesn't matter where the router is "at". The router could be on the moon for all I care; as long as each computer connects directly to it you only need forward the port to the LAN IP of your computer.

YES! I accessed the router from my computer by typing in my dad's LAN IP into a browser, forwarded port 17011 on TCP and UDP (just to be sure) to my LAN IP address, saved changes/rebooted, typed in my new external IP address and voila! Now I can host! Turns out I don't have to be on the main computer to do it.
