Please help,
I am looking at getting multiple copies of one of these games to play on my LAN at work.
Which will be best, in terms of fun, simplicity to install and ease of playing over a network?
Thanks,
Barnaby

PS does either game have a limit of how many players can play in one game?

Worms World Party

For LAN I would imagine that WWP is simpler, since i hear a lot of issues with WA LAN. Don't take my word for that, though.

simplicity to install
Worms World PartyI disagree. With Worms World Party, you have to know the region of the CD you have for patching, and download the correct patch. Worms Armageddon has an awesome automatic update installer by CyberShadow (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=31140) which takes care of all that stuff.

Basically, get Worms Armageddon. You will not regret it. This discussion has gone on many, many times on these forums and Worms Armageddon has won in all cases.

Yes, there is a limit of 6 teams per game, and one spectator. That limit is likely to be removed eventually though, with WA 4.0.

That limit will also be removed in WWP, at the same point in time as WA.

Note: Merged the two duplicate threads into one and moved thread into Games Discussion, as I wasn't sure whether this thread was better suited to WA or WWP. Therefore, Games seemed the logical place :)

Worms World Party

WA is easier to install. Just use Unwain (http://vader.wurmz.net/unwain).

I'd recommend WA as it is still updated.

W:A vs. WWP easily wins 17:0.
These are only the tip of the iceberg:

The direct IP feature might interest you should you want to play a Wormnet game with players on LAN too.
My favourites in W:A:
Color maps online, high resolutions, minimization & game recordings.
That limit will also be removed in WWP, at the same point in time as WA.
How do you know that?

Is that a limit on the number of teams, or the number of spectators, or both? I'm intrigued.

Is it still a bad idea to buy W:A from Trymedia?
*hides*
(can't find it on retail, want to get it before Xmas...)

Well, as far as I know the beta patches still don't work with the TryMedia version, and last I heard it was still expensive (can't view the website to find out, since my uni's proxy server blocks Trygames.com).

So: yes, it is still a bad idea :p

Well, the limit may be removed, but who says it will happen at the same time for both games?
I bet the feature will appear in an alpha or beta version for W:A first, before the games have actually got merged.

Don't do it!
It costs €19.19 and doesn't work with the beta updates (latest version still being 3.0.5.0).

Want to get it before christmas, over the seas shipping takes loooong plus:
"The last posting dates we have for UK and Overseas mail are as follows:-

UK 19th December
Western Europe 13th December
Everywhere else 11th December"
-T17 store
So yeah... D:
Oh and I live in Mexico, it's quite likely that I won't receive something I order online if it's sent over regular mail.(Never got my Game Junkie t-shirt that I won on the T17 Christmas competition, and I got sent 2 of 'em T_T)

hmm, good point. Well dont resort to the trymedia version, its really not worth it. I tried worms 2 over trymedia, and it was a horrible idea. Is there a game store near by that you can ask to see if they can get a copy in for you? I have a store near were I live that managed to get a 3 pack of WA, WWP and W2.

There is NO market for PC games in Mexico, unfortunately, it's all about console games. D:

wow, well I guess you really are out of luck. I guess the only way you will be able to get it before the christmas season is over is through trymedia. I have to say I really dont reccomend getting it through trymedia though. Another place you can get worms armageddon is through gametap if thats avalible in mexico.

You could get them (whatever internet store you buy it from) to ship it via UPS, which is surely more reliable than "regular mail".

If it wasn't for the dedicated fanbase and beta patches, I'd say World Party just edges it.

However, there is the dedicated fanbase and beta patches.

It's better than losing your parcel in the mail. Also, no, it's not too expensive, especially for what you're trying to get, which is well-worth whatever expense.
