I need to write a factoring song but none of my ideas are working :( anyone have any music recommendations for witting a song or any thing else they think they can contribute.

In fairness, Three Is A Magic Number was taken from Schoolhouse Rock, turned violently into a pop song, and released at various times by people as famous as Embrace and Jeff Buckley. It's probably made a hell of a lot of money all told, and it includes the following verse:
three times ten is thirty. three times nine is twenty-seven.
three times eight is twenty-four. three times seven is twenty-one.
three times six is eighteen. three times five is fifteen.
three times four is twelve, and three times three is nine,
and three times two is six, and three times one is three, of course.

The Klein Four Group - Finite Simple Group (Of Order Two)
Jonathan Coulton - Mandlebrot Set
Tom Lehrer - New Math

... but they're probably not what you're looking for.

When you say a "factoring song", what exactly do you mean?

song bout factoring like
a^2 -5a +6

answer (A-2)(2-3)

FAIL!
But if that was in your song, I could see it's ratings going up. Most people don't like confusing characters.

[UFP]Ghost

not the way we learn it, thats right. a*A= a^2
A*-2=-2a
A*-3=-3a and
-2*-3=-6

Wrong again!
You need to watch out for these small mistakes more often.

answer (A-2)(2-3)Ye gods, that's a tough take they've given you.

Although "The difference of two squares is the sum times the difference" works quite nicely as an a capella piece.

Ghost;548202']song bout factoring like
a^2 -5a +6

answer (A-2)(2-3)

(a-2)(a-3) is the correct answer

a*a = a^2
-2*-3 = 6
-2*a = -2a
-3*a = -3a

So, we then have:
a^2 - 2a - 3a + 6

Simplified, this gives:
a^2 - 5a + 6 (which was your starting point)

I second that opinion.
Although I sorta pity the person who's idea it was to mix Mathematical Logic with Creative Artistic.

i'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lost

this is as far as i got, my best attempt yet, with the chorus of ABC

Factoring,
as easy as,
Expanding,
As simple as,
Grouping.
Multiplying. Dividing. It's(stretch) allllll Factoring.

Erm... demonstrate how you got your answer.

The calculation you showed is correct, but your factorising isn't (except -3 * -2 = 6, not -6).

err typing error. = is next to -

That's ok then. But your factorising answer is still incorrect.

how is (a-2)(a-3) wrong?

omg typing error this time just my stupidity i guess but i used to be known for typing errors before firefox got spell check, but it doesn't spell check factoring.

OK, how about this?

Factorise
Doing it makes me agonise
If it becomes popular I might advertise
It involves making two brackets equalise
to the original equation

Oh.... Factorise
To do it wrong is to criminalise
It's something easy in disguise
If you can't do it then I sympathise
As it would cause frustration

OOOOHHHHH!!!!! Factorise
Singing about it will hypnotise
Although I like to melodise
This song sucks and I apologise
Although i'm sure it will circulate

Wo wo wo! Factorise
I don't know the words so I'll improvise
Global warming will make the world acclimatise
Slick is a worm who likes to womanise
Do you know about alkylbenzenesulfonate

Impressed? It's a guaranteed smash hit!

The bottom line is that factorising things isn't a very interesting subject and you just won't get a song out of it. So you have four options:

1. Instrumental. Nobody would ever know what it was about.
2. Dance. Lay down a looping synth-drum sample on Math E-Jay, and should "FACTORISE!" over it occasionally.
3. Abstract lyrics that don't really mean anything unless the listened really wants them to.
4. Metaphor:
I felt it would be most emphatic
To express my love as a quadratic,
But when I looked into your eyes
I found it wouldn't factorise.
And that was when I knew the truth:
My love for you has complex roots.

It's not really about factorisation at all, and I doubt you've done complex roots yet. And technically, "roots" doesn't really rhyme with "truth", but at least it's gramatically sound.

Apart from the sentence beginning with a conjunctive, anyway.

At least it's words.

When i saw you in my line of vision
All i remembered was my addition,
because you were becoming such an addiction.
I thought of how fun subtraction,
Would be with you giving me all my satisfaction.

Factorises with one or two tricks,
Six has its factors,
These then play the actors,
For getting neg five in the mix!
