i dunno about multiplayer on the one pc or on a lan but over the internet you have to join certain channels such as roper heaven or anything goes etc.

That's called Rope Knocking, and it's only available online, in channels #Anythinggoes and #RopersHeaven. There is currently no way to use it in hotseat multiplayer games.

Or you may let go of the rope and knock the other person's worm AND your worm in the drink.:o

Outside of the two mentioned Wormnet channels there is no ropeknocking at all.

It only defeats one of them.

But if you already planned to go fishing (which is a really dangerous activity for a worm) with your target, loosing your turn should not harm your strategy too much.

well if your smart enough ;) to try and knock someone when rope knocking is off you need a parachute to keep from falling! :)

But the only way to rope knock offline is when you lose control in the process and thus end your turn, so how are you supposed to use the parachute when your turn's over?

With the offline ropeknocking workaround turned off you need lose your turn and then, with the worm still sliding, hit another worm, thus knocking him more or less.

Unless you knock your opponents last worm off and you still have other worms, thereby winning you the game, of course.
