Hahahahaahahaha.

Sorry I just can't believe you're voting for your favourite console when you've never on played it. What a stupid and pointless thread.

А где ПК?... брр-rr!!!...
Where is PC? Maybe it is not Game Console, but it is the mainiest (and the most popular) Game Platform (as I know... :))!

I'm taking "best" to mean "has me the most excited" (as i'm assuming from your PS3 vote you meant that) and voting Wii. If "best" were to mean "has most enjoyable games", i'd vote SNES. Also, you appear to have listed a couple of companies there, rather than consoles (Sega, Atari). I'd expect some people may like to vote for Genesis/Mega Drive, Master System, Saturn, or Dreamcast seperately, although i can't see anyone voting for the Atari 2600 or 5200.

go snes :)

AndrewTaylor
7 Nov 2006, 12:26
Well I wouldn't vote SNES, simply because the Wii will have so many SNES games that I think it supercedes it almost by default, and I can't bring myself to vote PlayStation because, well, because I'm generally honest. Wii it is, then.

According to my research (i.e., what people play/discuss/read about on trains), the PSP is now flagging majorly and used only as a music player and the Wii is very much the Talk Of The Town, or at least of the Train.

There are quite some game consoles missing on your list.

In my life, I only had a N64 and a sega... but I cannot play SSM on the sega, so I vote for the nintendo.

Why dont you put a PC/MAC option?

Why dont you put a PC/MAC option?
Technically, they're not "consoles".

And, I can't see this thread lasting very long before it descends into a flamewar and gets locked by some power-crazed usermod.

and yeah, I'm with star worms. we don't even know enough about the wii or the PS3 yet (other than the easy-bake oven capabilities of the latter). among the rest there are so many missing it's rather biased. I'll not be voting

How can I possibly choose the Wii or PS3 when they aren't out yet?

SuperBlob
7 Nov 2006, 16:33
I'm saying Wii for the fact that it's all my other favourite consoles mixed into one with a new feature. Even though I haven't played it, there's still the option to play SNES games etc.

meh- I've said this before, but I don't like any sort of console war etc.

mind, I personally getting the ps3. not because it ***s anything, but just because I have a ps2 at the moment- so I'm sticking with them.
the wii looks quite awesome too. I think it's the whole "pick up and play" nature of it. I want one in my school.
xbox 360- I'd swear I never saw any advertising for it in this country though. in fact- I'd swear there's not a single game-related advert before the watershed, most of the time.

prove me wrong why don't cha

Voted Gamecube. It's been more reliable than my Xbox which seems to crash a lot. My GC has never crashed. I also have a PS2 which I think is also best.

I can't vote for Wii or PS3 coz they are NOT OUT yet!

Out of the current ones, I definately enjoyed Nintendo's consoles a lot more than the others, even though I do sort of regret picking a GC over a PS2. I've had loads of fun with stuff like Smash Bros, Paper Mario and Zelda, but I do feel like I'm missing out from other games that are just as good and more original, like Disgaea, and the tons of fun platform games and Japanese RPGs out for the PS2. Still, I picked Nintendo since most of my all-time favorite games were out for Nintendo consoles. Life on earth wouldn't be the same without Super Mario RPG and Banjo Tooie. :p

However, I'm not sure about next-gens. 360 is getting loads of good games, but Live's fee definetely puts me away. PS3 just seems too expensive to me right now, and I'm only interested in one of its games, that's actually rumored to have PS2-quality graphics.

The Wii seems like a silly idea at first that has the potential to be fun, but only if the games are also innovative. I didn't buy a DS because it had two screens, one of them being a touch screen; but because it has some games that actually take advantage of those features in an innovative way, something I can't do on any other console.

Just how I don't want to buy a Wii just to swing a hammer around in a generic beat-em-up, or control Mario just like I did on the N64 or Gamecube only with a motion sensing remote instead of a control stick. I'd like to see some completely new types of gameplay completely based around the new control style, not just the same old gameplay with motion sensing. Right now, the only game for it I have a huge amount of interest in doesn't even use the Wiiote. (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/supersmashbros/index.html)

Why isn't there an option for "I don't have a favorite/ I like them all?"
Because I don't have a favorite. They all have their good points...

They all have their good points...I hereby invite you to list the good points for the PS3 :P

The Wii looks to be the most interesting, and I think it'll have th best games too. If I was to buy a console, I'd buy a Wii. However, I'm sticking with my PC.

You can fry eggs on it.

They all have their good points...

Yes. You're right. However you seem to be missing the point. They all have their good points, but not all of those points will be good or important to You. The good points on one console may be trivial to you, but the good points on another could be more important.

This is your preference. This is not trying to judge everything up to determine the better console.

You can fry eggs on it.Mmmm, breakfast and games in one :p

Kelser, be careful you're not saying "they've all got good points, they're all the same" (some people have been saying this, winds me up) without thinking about it. This is the real world, they're real companies, it is quite feasible one or more is a lot better/worse than the others.

I hereby invite you to list the good points for the PS3 :P

-Power (Maybe... I'm still not sure if it's better than the 360 or not.)
-A cheap Blu-Ray player (Though if Blu-ray fails as a format, this will be irrelevant.)
-It's almost like an entire entertainment center in one device. (Though if you already have all of the devices that do what the PS3 can, this will also be irrelevant.)
-Motion Sensing capabilities. (Though it doesn't look like it will be taken advantage of as much as the Wii games will.)

Err... that's all I can think of.
And they all have counterpoints. :p

I can't say a lot about games, either. Assasin's Creed seems interesting, and the developers of Timesplitters are making a game for it, but that's all that I'm interested in.
The PS2 had great third-party support, but we can't know if that's going to continue.

Wrong. It's tilt sensor capabilities. The exact same technology GBA games like Yoshi's universal gravitation and the like use. It's like saying those games have motion sensing when it's just a simple left/right thing

Sorry to people whos fav console is not on the list because you only get a max of 10 poll options and I also didn't think about a (none) option and things like that. And when the poll closes a day before Wii is released in EU is a total fluke.

Well PS2 has the best games out of all the consoles currently available. These titles include Grand Turismo, GTA series is always released on PS first and many others.

Pigbuster
10 Nov 2006, 05:24
The PS2 has a good selection, I know.
That doesn't mean that the PS3 will.

If I had to choose a system other than the Wii I'd choose the 360, as it has Dead Rising.

Hmm...It's a bit too early to decide on whether or not the PS3 is worth the money. Certainly not at launch. But titles like MGS4, FFXIII, FFXIII Versus, DMC4, Motorstorm, Fatal Inertia, and Resistance actually look good. But the only console out of the three I'd buy would be the Wii. But I'm not too interested in the NES and SNES games. I use my PSP for those.

AndrewTaylor
10 Nov 2006, 10:33
really? bit of a waste with the controller shape the way it is.

IT's not quite the same as the Wii's, because if you have the sensor strip thing (I think) the Wii also gets absolute positional information that the PS3 can't get.

But yes, I've used conventionally shaped tilt-sensitive joypads and they are hell.

The PS3 has more power, lots and lots of it - its just not very usefull power. Much of the processing power is designed for specific uses and cannot be used for anything else.

Much of the processing power is designed for specific uses and cannot be used for anything else.and the fact that it's not very practical to actually USE the main feature of the bluray player, which is crap loads of memory.

I'm willing to bet that there is never a game made that actually uses 100% of the PS3's capabilities as far as power.
