You may need to update WA; old versions are incompatible with windows 2000/XP, and I think that is the problem they tend to have. See http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/. The big link on that page that says "Latest Update: 3.6.26.5 (5 January 2006)" in particular.

You probably don't know how right you are. The 3.0 version (which applies for Trymedia) of Worms Armageddon does not work with Windows XP, the latest Beta Update solves this problem by adding support for Windows XP, but the Beta Updates are not compatible with the Trymedia version.

In other words, go buy Worms Armageddon on a cd. That would have been way less expensive in the first place, heh.

Hey zzzzzac, I got an idea for you. Uninstall your worms game (since the beta patch corrupted it), and reinstall it. Then download the file I linked here, and overwrite the DXMfc.dll in your Worms Armageddon folder with it. The file should make your trymedia version (if it is 3.0) work with Windows XP.

However, with your trymedia version you will not be able to play with people online or benefit from the features available from the beta patches.

Ehrm, the Trymedia version actually is prepatched to v3.0.5.0 (the latest official, IIRC) which should allow the game to run fine in Win2K/XP.
The problem is, you won't find many players with that version anymore and no higher beta updates work with the Trymedia version.

(I don't know to what extent the later beta version can emulate older versions, but I personally kick every player that needs emulation of a too old version, not to speak of incompatibility with color maps.)

zzzzzac, you have been ripped off and f*cked. Buy a proper CD version of the game. And reroute all your anger to Trymedia.
