What is the exact nature of the error message? Somehow I doubt it's

"Error: Something is missing or failing"

We can't help you unless you're specific.

franpa, we all appreciate your desire to help, but you could at least put a bit of effort into it. Such superficial posts (with broken URLs, etc.) are unlikely to help anyone, so instead of helping out, you're causing more chaos and confusion - thus, becoming an Internet troll (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll).

wa.team17.com has both the patch which you apply first then you get the update and apply that... it explains it all at the http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/ site.

Is anyone going to email me the wa patch and all it's things? I really wanna play WA Wormnet  :(

Sold out comes with the patch, but when I get the update, the .dll things are missing, thats why i need someone to e-mail me their wa patch and all it's stuff..

franpa
2 Nov 2006, 11:29
the patch is a seperate thing to the update... the update requires that you get the patch from wa.team17.com and install it then apply the update... if you dont then you get missing dll's due to lack of brain power on the end users behalf... its explained at http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/ how to update/patch your game properly.

Penguins
2 Nov 2006, 11:31
Look if you read my post properly, The Sold out version comes with the patch, Will you just take some time to email me the .dll's, no that hard is it? joshjones@westnet.com.au

franpa

browse your cd-rom you should find a patch directory in it...

re-install your game then run the patch found in the patch directory located on your cd-rom... then update your game.

Lex

Penguins, all the parts of the update are available online from the official update site. There is a self-extracting archive which will extract its contents to a location of your choice. There is no need for someone to email you what is already freely-available from a simple download link.

A set of download mirrors for the update file is here: http://wa.team17.com/main.html?page=supp&area=upda&file=15

This may have been said. I have the soldout version. You do not need to use that update at all penguin(and nor should you anyway). You just need the latest patch.

but then you only got v3.000 and not v3.6.26.5

Dando
2 Nov 2006, 12:50
No Franpa. v3.6.26.5 is all you need for soldout and it replaces the originally exe anyway so I don't understand what you mean there?

v3.6.26.5 IS ALL YOU NEED FOR SOLDOUT, YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ELSE. THE "XP PATCH" ON THE DISC DOES NOT NEED TO BE INSTALLED IF YOU USE v3.6.26.5.

Atleast never for me. The game will update and be fully playable with the v3.6.26.5 patch.:p

You ONLY need the latest BETA Patch for ANY Worms Armageddon install (except some European v1.05 CDs).

franpa
2 Nov 2006, 16:17
not if you have the european v1.05 version... that requires the v3.0 patch prior to installing the latest beta.

Hmm, really? Mine was bought in the UK and in the Version.txt (\Data\Resource folder) on the CD it says:

"V3.00E

When/where was this 1.05 version sold?

OK.
I have the soldout
Uninstall the game
Reinsert the WA disk
Install the game
After install, try to close the SOS install. It will tell you to install the patch. Accept this
go to http://wa.team17.com and download the update
double-click it
type in the folder you installed worms armageddon
press the confirmation button (ok, extract or whatever it is)
Run WA

To save confusion, follow these instructions. Do not think. Do not deviate. Just follow these instructions Exactly.

1. Remove the game. Un-Install it.

2. Install the game

3. Download the Official Patch and Install. If the game works, proceed to step 5.

4. If the game does not work, Reinstall and proceed without the patch.

5. Download and install the Beta Update.

6. Run the game.

If you have problems hosting an online game, then this is a different issue altogether. It means you need to sort out your Router or External Firewall.

You are confusing people too.

The latest official patch is v3.0, which will not work on Win2K/XP systems.
So you point 3. is half the truth.

This procedure will always work:
Install game (any version) > install patch (v3.0) > install latest beta update (v3.6.25.6)

Analgesics are your friends.
I suggest 500mg acetylsalicylic acid oral, 500mg paracetamol oral and a cup of strong coffee. Add a glass of water to counter the diuretic effect of the coffee if necessary.

I think having 10 caffiene tablets over the course of the day didn't help. The paracetamol sounds promising.

Ok. We have reached a concensus. It be good if a future beta covered the whole version range though so it just be 1 step?

That requires effort, time and thought. Also, most copies of W:A sold now don't require the patch to be installed, only the updates.

Yes, caffeine is only slightly analgesic and is rather used to speed up the absorption of the other analgesics.

Add acetylsalicylic acid too, as it has another mechanism than paracetamol.

You could drink the coffee first, then swallow a tablet of one and apply a suppository of the other and let them meet up in the middle with the caffeine.
Metaphorically speaking. :D

Hey, wouldn't it be nice if someone wrote a program that looked at your cd to figure out what version you had and automated this whole process? I think it'd be mighty convenient (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30453) for situations like this.

You need to specify WA's install directory when you extract the update. Where WA.exe is located. It can't determine this automatically.

Also maybe I didn't hint hard enough in the last post of the existense of an installer that can do that automatically (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=30453).

The default directory is (assuming your HDD is C) C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon. If you didn't change anything whilst installing the game then this is your directory. Another way to find the directory is to navigate to my computer, then click on your hardrive where you install programs, then go to Team17 and a folder called Worms Armageddon should be there. If this is right then when you run the 3.6.26.5 update.exe type in or browse to C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon.

Remember that your HDD might no be C.

Oh and MEH's installer is mighty fine. It got WA working on my 64-bit PC :)

I just today installed Worms Armageddon, and I use the Sold Out version. It took me about 3 minutes to install everything from scratch.

Try this:

1) Insert W:A CD into CD/DVD drive. CLOSE any popup/autorun stuff. You don't need it.

2) Go to "My Computer", and right-click and "explore" the W:A CD.

3) Go to "setup.exe" on your W:A CD. It has a cute little nuclear warning icon. Double-click and install it. Just say "next" and "yes" to everything until it's all finished.

4) Close everything.

4) Download and save (http://littlebee.gq.nu/files/WA_Update-3.6.26.5_Beta.exe) "WA_Update-3.6.26.5_Beta.exe" and save it wherever you want.

5) Go to "My Computer", and go to C:/Team17/Worms Armageddon.

6) Find the "WA_Update-3.6.26.5_Beta.exe" you just downloaded, and move it to C:/Team17/Worms Armageddon.

7) Double-click "WA_Update-3.6.26.5_Beta.exe" in C:/Team17/Worms Armageddon. Click "extract" when it asks, and "yes to all" when it asks. It will close itself when it's done.

8) Finished!

You can check which version your WA.exe is by two simple methods:
1) Right-click the WA.exe file, choose Properties and look at the Version tab
2) Start the game, and in the main menu, move the mouse over the W:A logo at the top. The text at the bottom will state the version of the game's EXE.

Use this method to figure out which version of the game do you have. The latest version is 3.6.26.5; if yours is lower, then you failed to follow the update instructions.

I didn't buy it as part of a set (although I did buy the Worms United, Worms 2 and Worms Pinball set beforehand :D), and it doesn't say Sold Out anywhere on the CD (threw away the box). I got mine to the latest version in two simple steps:

- Install WA
- Install 3.26.6.5 Patch

and it works fine. So I'm not sure why it worked if it wasn't meant to...

Throwing away the box is a really stupid thing to do. Where do you keep your discs?

Excuse me? The boxes for games in those days were 30x20x5cm, if I kept them, I'd have one less shelf. Since DVD cases came out, I keep all my game cases. For your information, my CD is kept with all of my other old games in a 20-pocket portable CD case.

I remember the box being orange/red with some worms on the front. It did not have a gray border like Sold Out games do.

Throwin away boxes isn't that stupid...soon loads of media will fit on 1 disc, and if not now in the future. For me, I keep iso's on harddrive. And i bought diff cases...smaller ones. I think CD/DVD has had its day...tiem to move on.

Ah, the big cardboard ones. I know what you mean (although I do believe I still have a lot of those somewhere).

Well that's fair enough, although it's impressive what use the boxes can be (eg: where the game actually came from).
