This has probably been answered a zillion time before but if it has - I'm sorry - I just can't find just exactly the right fix.

Just installed WA from the "Sold Out software" CD onto a WIN-XP system. I can get the online gaming (WN) to work from the admin account but not any other account - does not matter if they are limited or admins. I have also tried re-installing into a user's (admin) account - don't work! Also re-installed into a user's "My Documents" folder to try to avoid any sharing issues - still don't work!

It always seems to work in the main "Admin" account though, no matter how I installed it.

I'm trying to get this set up for my kids and would really appreciate some pointers to a fix... I don't want to have to give my admin password to play.

when logged in as a limited user... right click the shortcut to the game and choose "run as..." enter the admin password and name and it should work on the limited account... you may have to repeatedly do this :(

Did you mean that I wold have to keep repeatedly trying this tip, until it did eventually work? Or just that if it did work, I would have to keep starting WA that way?

Wa tends to modify the registry, for some file associations. Usually, running the game once as admin would fix this.

WA tends to store info in its own folder. Installing it in "My documents" is a good way to get rid of access rights.

Last point: WA tends to modify a few lines of win.ini (design error?), so the users need to have writing access to win.ini file.

I remember having been able to run WA as limited user, by simply copying installed folder to a writable location. You might want to try that too.

Why have Limited User Accounts anyway? They just make programs behave stupidly - it's not really great for stopping people use programs either.

Can you not pursuade whoever owns the system to just make you an Administrator? If it's a home PC it's not a problem since it's quite hard to screw stuff up anyway...

No, you can't - unless the system is awfully misconfigured or not using the NTFS filesystem.

Well - I don't know what's left to do. :(

I have reinstalled into a shared location, changed the kids user account type to Admin, and (I think) changed the NTFS security settings on WIN.INI to allow the "Users" write access. But the game still will not connect to the internet.

The confusing thing is that it workes fine when run under the "main" admin account, but not under a sub account, set to Admin.

I don't know what to try now - like I said earlier, giving the kids access to the main Admin account is a no-no for me, so if that is all that is left, then they will have to play without online gaming.

Any more tips or things to try, gratefully received.
