Especially Worms: Armageddon; some people like the 2D serieses better as they are more strategic, so it's best to check them both out (W:A and W4M) Before making a definate decision.

I started off with Worms original on the Amiga. It's one of my favourite games of alltime. When I bought Worms World Party, I was expecting much more. I hated the dumbed down graphics; needs texture, badly. I hated the larger worms. I hated the lack of dog tags. I would have liked real-time terrain gravity. It just didn't feel as good as the original Worms or that it added a lot, and in fact was a backwards step IMO. Same applies for Worms Armageddon, which was essentially the same but for the fact that you could get Fiddler running on it and customize it more, so it's better I guess.

I heard a lot of negative comments about Worms 4 and Worms 3d in general that I should just stick with the 2-dimensional game. But, having played it a bit in the last few months, I can honestly say that I love it! It's even moved ahead of Worms original, IMO.

Few things that I would like to change: I want to look up when a worm goes flying into the sky. Worms are not exactly dogs who -- supposably -- can't do so, the way I imagine it they have enough flexibility to do it. The game maybe needs more texture. I've tweaked various weapon settings... the values out of the box are arbitrary, I don't have them at hand but things like 45 damage for a grenade maybe and 55 for a bazooka? Sometimes the unexpected and random works, but not IMHO for Worms 3d, as it's strategic and you need to be able to account for the values of the weapons. There needs to be more explosive damage, not overkill (actually, my worm deaths have as much power as a Holy Grenade under my scheme and destroy land to a value of 140 and hit worms at 175 (a 4:5 ratio), which for a death is overkill but creates more chain reactions), again fixed by tweaking it, so that's all cool. Weapons have to change the terrain by the completion of the game. hehe. I really had few problems with the untweaked game, with basic tweaked AI it was an improvement and addictive without any other alterations, but now I've refined it more with the weapons and such. I LOVE tweaking--if it causes a problem online, maybe in the future they can revert to default settings for online games or have an option to default for all participants?

Getting a real kick out of the game, and glad I avoided the critics.

Maybe I'm an old time gamer, but I'd like to see things like replays, and SAVING replays, and offline AI league's, Speedball 2 style in a way. Individualize worms, only team distinction being colour of name that appears above the worm--make things more difficult and team member identification not clearly apparent, and the player more involved. Being able to have all these different traits from worm to worm (hair/glasses/beard/voice), and also be able to change other variables like weight/height/species/speed/health/disease affect/jump. I like offline leagues, and I'm a statistics freak. It allows me to evaluate my last game, makes me feel like I've accomplished something. If done right, a league would be goal orientated.

Of course, none of these will be considered; not in todays online orientated gaming... but, anyway.
