if you know what Shadowrun is, turn back now lest ye be assaulted with blasphemy the likes of which never before seen by man.

if you're NOT familiar with the D&D-styled game from the 80s (which I imagine something like 90% of the world's population isn't), then come and be informed of a rather interesting looking shooter game coming out early next year.

it's based in a sci-fi fantasy universe where both technology and magic work side-by-side (to some extent anyway), and has been built into a game similar to Counter-Strike, but with magic (imagine if you will playing CS with people being able to teleport, fly, turn into air, and other such things).

now, I have no guarantee this game will be awesomeness in some fancy jar or anything, but it's at very least worth a look. personally, I'm very interested to see how this fleshes out and I'll be jumping on any beta or demo I can find once such things are present.

anyway, LINKAGE!

IIRC, there was a RTS based on a mix of strategy and magic released a while ago.

fps + magic = http://www.darkmessiahgame.com/isn't that more along the lines of Oblivion? I've not looked much into it, but that's what it appeared to be.

what I'm talking about is FPS in the style of most online FPS games, like CSS, HL2DM, etc. only FPSs of that style that I know that use magic aren't out yet and are shadowrun and Project Offset.

Not really. Dark Messiah is a lot like an FPS. Check out some gameplay vids. And the class-based multiplayer is a lot like the Battlefield series.

well.. it is first person, and you get to use some weaponery (http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/darkmessiahmm/459875/) and magic (http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/darkmessiahmm/459881/)
:/

what ign said:
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic puts players in a first-person perspective, allowing them to immerse themselves in the legendary Might and Magic universe as never before. It is also the world's first fantasy action game to feature a complete first-person combat system.

In Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, players will be introduced to the world of Ashan, the new setting for all future Might & Magic games. Ashan is a dark and unforgiving world, scarred by a bloody history and threatened by an apocalyptic prophecy: the Dark Messiah.

Players will embody the young hero Sareth, who has been trained in the arts of magic and war in order to battle the prophetic Dark Messiah. Players will have the choice to become expert warriors, mages or assassins, each with their own cache of devastating weapons and spells to use in battling huge and vicious enemies. Through combat, players will unlock new skills and equipment, advancing Sareth's experience and improving his performance, battle combos, hits, spells and techniques and setting his course for his destiny.
first-person / Medieval / fantasy / shooter
so i guess oblivion is one hell of a fps :p
