I'm rather proud of my pc, total cost was about £300 over two years ago and it's still capable of playing high end games (Unreal 2.5 engine and Far Cry at any rate) games today

That ATI x1300 is good, but the 1.25Ghz is a HUGE drain.
I've got the same as you, except with twice as much Ghz, and I'm able to run B&W2 on medium quality. (note: B&W2 is one of the most grahically demanding games out at the moment)

If you can find anywhere still selling them mabye, but they'll become like record decks soon - rare and no longer mass manufactured. You can get a decent LCD 17" for about £100 though.

I dont really like lcds to be honest. I like a nice big bulky monitor on my desk. Gives more of that warm happy computer feeling. Same thing goes for wireless stuff. I like to have wires all over my floor and things hanging from the ceiling.

Really? A half-decent CRT moniter is just as good as a good LCD screen.

With wires I'm definatly on your side. You should our house, or even just my room.

But I'll never go back to CRT again now, the only advantage it offers me is not having a native resolution. Saving space and not producing a tonne of heat is very useful for me.

LCD's are quite heavy too. not as heavy as CRT. but still. I prefer LCD. because i got almost no space. theres still a CRT 17'' on my room though. cant afford an other one.
