Hello,

I've got serious problems to get Worms World Party running.
I bought the game about 2 years ago from Amazon. Never had any problems with it. Now I've got a new laptop, it's a Samsung X60 SE with an Intel Core Duo T2300 1,66 GHz, 1024 MB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600 (512 MB) and the display resolution is 1.680 x 1.050. My recent OS is Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1.

I installed the newest version of ATI-drivers and also the latest version of DirectX. Then I did install WWP from the original CD. But the game didn't work. The intro screen appears, also the menu, but when it comes to loading the game itself (the certain loading-cake should appear) the screen remains black and will never change anymore until I force a shutdown of the whole system (pressing the reset-button).

So I went to http://wwp.team17.com/main.html?page=comm&area=_down_patc and downloaded and installed the patches for Windows XP SP 1. Now when I try to start WWP there appears a new little blue "Loading" window and after a while there comes an error: "Software Protection Error - Please insert the original CD-Rom"

But this _is_ the original CD-Rom. It looks exactly like the image on wwp.team17.com - http://wwp.team17.com/images/graphics/cdshot_pc_uk.gif - i bought it legally, so why doesn't it start anymore?
I do not have this 'DMA' box at the properties of my CD-Rom-drive as described in the FAQs so I can't deselect it.

I want my WWP back, please! What can I do?

Simone

PS: Worms Blast - bought with the same order as WWP - works without any problems at my system ...

I get the same thing but I get it before the game starts. The game installed without a hitch but when I attempt to run it, it just tells me to put in the original CD. Like you, I too updated with the service patch 1 (US) but sadly no worms. Mind you, this CD works just fine on my notebook and my other game system, just not on my son's PC and it's only a year old.

try using the "UK service pack 1" for the game
