Yeeeeah... if someone got this working, let me know. I couldn't get it working on Opera, nor on Firefox... :(

It's nothing without the cheesy videos! Or in fact any sound effects whatsoever...

Nah, it just doesn't do nostalgia justice for me.

However I've just discovered a "simcity classic" torrent; if it turns out to work then it will be the first time in years of searching that I've ever found it for download on the internet.

I've still got the manual, too.

It's nothing without the cheesy videos! Or in fact any sound effects whatsoever...In fairness, only the CD-ROM version had the improved sounds and cheesy videos. But yeah, they were awesome, I wish I hadn't lost that CD. I loved dropping all the fundings just to get them to complain. :p

Well the torrent worked but it didn't have the videos :(

I am sorely disappointed. Yes I am literally sore with disappointment.

Why waste time with a torrent? It's pretty legit abandonware by this point. http://www.abandonia.com/games/393/

Although yeah, if you wanted to find a version with videos you'd probably have to dig a bit deeper.

Last time i checked, EA, being the cócks they are, made legal threats against anyone and everyone offering a download of simcity classic.

Even though it's not for sale.

Well I don't see how that's even within their power, as they had nothing whatsoever to do with Maxis until about the time of The Sims.

If they were actually offering the game in a compilation pack or something, fine. But as it is, screw them. :p

Yeah but after they bought up Maxis and the rights to the simcity franchise, they got the power to control it like that.

The fact is, abandonware is still the publisher's IP. It remains that way for 75 years, I think.

So, unless EA announce it as officially freeware they expect you to either buy it second-hand or not own it at all.

It's completely stupid but perhaps they think it will promote sales of newer titles.

Does this online version have Superman?

Even though it's not for sale.Last time I checked, Abandonia is the last website that would want to get in trouble after the whole ESA incident, so either EA gave them permission or they just don't care.

In any case, that's the crappy Windows version.
