I'm making a worms RPG with RPG maker, if you want your sigworm to be in it, just ask me in this thread and give me its profile!

I will also need some worms RPG sprites to use because I suck at making them, thanks!

Downloads: The demo is here!: http://www.filefactory.com/file/f2f89d/

READ: THE DEMO MIGHT ONLY WORK WITH WINRAR.

Sigworms to be in game so far that I have done sprites of: Inferno (mine), Luke, Mr. Game and Worm, Plasma, Buffalokid.

Help:
Enterbrain for RPG maker 2003

Currently working on: The game!

Rating: Don't know yet, should be 3+ like all real worms games when it's done.

Sprites were done ages ago.

P.S. You don't need to worry about the quality of battle sprites, instead I'm having none (as in, blank-type none) since I can't make them, and they're very hard to make for most other people!

Well, as I tend to say: "Being able to make a game is only half the work, the game is next to useless if you haven't got proper sprites".
In other words, I don't expect this to go far, as few people here are willing to create sprites for an entire game, unless it's their game.

I also dislike the idea of trying to make a Worms RPG, but a bad game is still better than no game at all; so I'll be willing to help with any small tasks you may have.

Oh crud, here we go again.
But at least this is about Team17. Since it's one of our members, I'll support it as best as I can, but I'm mostly busy with Team Alpha. I'm pretty average with RPGM2kx, but if you were using XP then I'd be able to help you out even more.

If I can be bothered, and if you ask nicely and frequently enough, I'll probably try and make some shiny sprites for you.

Havn't done that work for a while now...

*Thinks of the 2 year old thread*

Not sure on how this is going to work, but I would recommend seeing about W:A sprites, or something similar and simple.

Farazparsa, I'm going to be really direct with you right now. I'm sure other people are thinking the same thing here. You are being way too negative. Please, if you want to be angry about something, be angry about something wrong, not about somebody's game-making effort. Please do not discourage people who are attempting to produce. Instead, commend them on their efforts.

Just because I want to make a game doesn't mean I'm trying to be like Plasma! I mean, give me five reasons that making a worms fangame makes me like Plasma, we have different personalities! I mean it's not like anything like this will happen:

Me: Hey, I think I'll make a fangame!

BZZZT!

Me: AAAARGH! Must... obey.... Plasma... :p

And also, if you say I'm like him, he'll probably react by getting out a chair, then beating you on the head with it. Because he knows, that I've been one of THE most noobish members in the past, driven crazy by Being Watched, and once again, I can't apologize enough!

Anyways, back on topic of the actual game, I can't use RPGXP because it won't work for me (And no, I don't have an old version of Win XP). I would love to use it though!

Also, Metal Alex was originally going to make a worms RPG, and I managed to download the demo before he deleted the thread. I would like to ask him if it's OK that I use his style of sprites, but give credit to him.

There's infinite roles unless I say so otherwise!

Also, the story will be decided as I go along. I could start off with Inferno having a dream about a hidden worms legendary city, then he sets out on an adventure to find it, encountering and teaming up with lots of different worms (including forum members!). If you have any story ideas, feel free to tell me!

I'll say NEVER.

Edit: COMEDY GOLD:

Gravy, it's a demo. Tone down the critism. It's not done. Also, Plasma would need to have a registered version of GM to import graphics and such. Also, this game uses sprites not ragdolls so what you just said is pretty close to impossible unless Plasma makes an object parent to, say, the Worm's head that makes a simple hat. But then again, this could be exploited. Someone can have a huge black box and blind all the players. To avoid this, plasma would need an "if else" code to check the size. I think that, too, requires a registered version.

Turn down the critisism, eh? ;)

Depends who helps him. For example, Killers would have long since stopped working on his game if I hadn't helped him.

And I do believe HG is copying a little from WR.
If anything, he's copying a little from MetalAlex's sigworm RPG; it bears a lot more resemblence to that than WR.

Speaking of which; Gravy, you might want to ask MetalAlex if he has any tips.

err wtf? how do you define one of your members? someone that posts here at least 20 times a day?

Now what elliott said was right, the game uses the characters from the t17 games, what are the character of the t17 games? WORMS!
What are the characters in my game? WORMS!
wow, how similar.
What I meant was, I'm not basing this game off being with the same weapons or gamestyle or storyline related to the T17 games at all.

I dont care if HG steals anything from WR, as a matter of fact it'll be almost impossible for him to make something similar using rpgmaker or a gamemaker or w/e it is he'll be using for obvious reasons.

"I'm sure it'll last long if we help him with it

This is like the icing on the cake. You such a hypocrite, what happened to worms RPG is the stupidest idea ever? or is it normal for you to change your mind every other day? I'm starting to think its some sort of personal problem you have with me, which would make this whole thing even more ridiculous because I never spoke to you in my life, nor do I want to, nor do I care.

Faraz wants to help Gravy because:
1: Gravy is still new when it comes to making games.
2: Gravy is a pleasent poster that is often willing to try and help.
It's clear that you are neither of these things.

I'm sorry but if you believe making a game in some sort of game maker gives you as much flexibility as making a game from scratch, then the obvious reasons can be found on www.google.com

Yeah, I'm not the pleasant poster? Everytime I made a topic concerning WR you were always here to give bad comments or out of the subject comments like "the building B is 10 degrees more titled than the building A"
Did you see me go to your alternative worms game topic and describe how bad the collision, the movements, and how sloppy, slow and terrible to play your game is overall? No because I'm not like that you're making your game, GL with it I'm not here to critisize your work unless you ask me to, I never asked you to critisize mine, yet everytime you feel absolutely obliged to do so.

Because I have seen countless posts about how GameMaker is really limited, but not seen any reasons to back it up.

Because I have seen countless posts about how GameMaker is really limited, but not seen any reasons to back it up.For the obvious reason that GameMaker isn't a language, it's an application that makes things easier than a language, and if you have to use an application instead of a language itself, you're limited to the application's features. Sure thing. BK (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/38520060/). It's the first and last ones that are how I look now. (Flame eyes, Black Cape, Horns, Burning Sock Puppet (Socky))

What do you mean by '"Dun-dun-dun!"' type music?

I mean like the kind of music you get at an evil scene like:

Evil guy: Then we'll kill them! MWUHAHAHAHAHA!

*Dun- Dun- DUNNNNN!*

Also, I've done your sprites and really enjoyed making them!

Do you have any idea how different an MP3 (or pretty much anything) is to a MIDI? If you were to chage it, it would suffer (as already said) a huge loss in quality.

No, seriously. If you could hear these MP3s I have, your ears would go ten times the size and you would say:

"PLEASE PUT THESE IN THE GAME!!!!!"

Also, the demo will come out, once I find a good WORKING host that's free.

Also, even if you can only get a program that can change WMA's into MIDI, that's fine. I can change MP3 into WAV easily.

Also, even if you can only get a program that can change WMA's into MIDI, that's fine. I can change MP3 into WAV easily.
WMA, MP3, OGG and WAV files are all very similar, as they record sound directly. However, MIDI files program the computer to play certain set sounds installed on every computer. Converting the first file type to MIDI is next to impossible to do properly without manpower.

It is possible to convert, but it certeinly wouldn't be worth it.

MIDI files are very small. All they contain is the "musical notation" and other properties. The sounds come from a library on your computer.

Vocals are impossible to achieve and the sound quality is poor. This is for a normal MIDI file.

Now imagane a MIDI file created from an Audio file. The computer has to try and match sounds to different Instrument voices and the timing would need to be calculated.

Seriously. Just find a MIDI version of the MP3 that was composed.

Thats not true. Maybe he shouldn't have called it a demo. What it actually is is a tiny level that just showcases the game, how it works etc.

I think that it wouldnt look out of place if this was ten years ago. Since its not, its not very good. The main reason being it just isn't a very good idea in the first place. Worms don't role play.

What confuses me is why there are humans in the same world as worms and why, oh god why, are the worms exactly the size as the humans. And yes! Why in the world does that worm turn into a human before a battle? What in hell are you doing???

Ok, rant out of the way. You are lucky that a very nice song has just started playing.

It's definately a bloody good try at making a game. I take it that you are in your teenaged years? Perhaps a couple of years younger than me? For a person that age to begin thinking about developing games, even if you are using some sort of game maker to help you, is very good. Keep working on odd projects like these. Something will come out of them. There is a future in something like this yet.
