View Full Version : Custom user style sheet for the Team17 forum

I switched to the Retro Purple (fluid) style not long ago, because the Team17 style was getting a bit old. But I found the backgrounds a bit too dark and the fonts a bit too small, making the posts too hard to read. So I decided to give user stylesheets a try.

Here's mine (intended to be used over the Retro Purple Fluid skin):

Screenshot: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/504/00000175zj5.png

List of changes:
Made the background colours lighter
Made the post text (but not the code or quoted text) larger
Removed Team17 logo at the top (because the background stood out and it was taking up space)
Made the edit boxes wider (mine are for 1024x768, you can adjust the width properties below)

CSS code:

div.panel > div
{
width: 100% !important;
}
.controlbar > textarea
{
width: 800px !important;
}

body, .page
{
background: #AFBFD1 !important;
}
.thead
{
background: #D5E8FF !important;
}
html > body > table > tbody > tr > td
{
background: #FF0000 !important;
display: none !important;
}
.alt1, .alt1Active
{
background: #CAD5E0 !important;
font-size: 12px !important;
}
.alt2, .alt2Active
{
background: #B4C0CB !important;
}

Opera users, save this to Your Opera folder\styles\team17forum.css, then press F12 > Edit site preferences > Display tab > select team17forum.css. Reload the page and that should do it.

Firefox users need the Stylish (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon.php?id=2108) extension.

Not a bad job, but I like to keep the original retro feel. ;)

It's too dark for my eyes. And the edit boxes are too narrow :)

Anyway. I was just posting this as a reminder of what you can do with user CSS.

And with GreaseMonkey/user-JS, you can do a lot more!

I've never been one to mess with other people's work, but it is nice to see what you can do these days. And always nice to have another Opera user in here. :)

Btw, what does your "notpron" folder have? ;)

"Stuck" is a temporary state :D

There are non-spoiling hints on the forums.

Beware though, I got levels 1-13 without any hints completely! Except for level 7, where I got a little help from Lex as I'm no expert on candy bars. :x

:D :D :DOhhhhh, I remember that now. The name threw me off. :p

Never made it very far, riddles aren't my sort of thing.

"Stuck" is a temporary state :DYep, I think i've just cracked it. I need to learn morse code now...

I'm stuck on 7 now. I think I'm almost there but I feel so far from the answer.

I don't know how much I can say without spoiling it...

Yep, I think i've just cracked it. I need to learn morse code now...

The Google bar is there for a reason. There are enough online morse code encoders/decoders too :P

But doing it manually is so much more fun.

7 was a hard one for me too.

Remember, the source code often hides useful hints, as well as the title, the address bar, and the password hint in the login/password box.

I know both of the possible answers but one seem to just do nothing :(

Persevere, mortal, and thee shall be rewarded. ;)
Check the forum for hints if you're stuck on the same puzzle for over a few hours.

Once you've done one it seems so obvious!

*slaps forehead*

Do you really not get it? I can explain if you like. I find it hard to believe, though given its simplicity and your apparent intellect. :p

CyberShadow

I think I did, maybe it was just too obvious for me to hang onto that as what you originally meant :)

Actually, I thought at first that that had something to do with the puzzle. :)

It didn't take long for this thread to go off topic...

Hehehe. I'll explain, just so we both know we're on the same page.

On the Internet, actions/verbs are frequently wrapped in asterisks:

*performs action*/*dances*

You told me to perservere, so I performed the action in the post:

*perserveres*

You also called me a mortal, which I then turned into a verb and performed the action in the post:

*mortals*

Having verbalised the word mortal, I decided to accentuate it. I decided the word "verbs" would be amusing, as verbs are actions. Furthermore, it followed a pair of verbs, so the final action is both a verbalised noun and a pluralised noun.

I'm sure you did get it. It's ever so simple (although not all that funny, really). :)

Yeah, he got it. That's a very nice, well-defined explanation, though, Vader. :)

Thanks for the new info on user style sheets, Shy-burr-Cadeau. I didn't know user style sheets existed. :o Yes, I am getting a bit tired of this light forum style also.

Stylesheets absolutely rock, as is evident from my updated website!

I like the standard stylesheet. It is neat and clean.

As for notprong, i got myself to level 8 =)

I like the dark purple. It's dark, but not so dark that the text has to be white. It's very pleasing on the eyes.
But it's neat that you can make your own version.

And notpr0n? HA.
Call me when you pass even a single level of This is Not Porn (http://www.thisisnotporn.com/) without looking for a walkthrough.
Also, it's constantly changing. To get past the first level you were supposed to click on the stove screen, but now all it does is say "Would you still love someone, even if they did something really terrible?" I have no idea how to progress now.

Oh.

Now you tell me.

I've spent the last hour decompiling the music flash file and hex-viewing all the images.

I found this on a random forum while googling for the photographer whose name is on the front page:

For some reason, the link to "Asia Awaits" was taken off the front page. The only way to get there is from this link: www.thisisnotporn.com/not/not.htm

Anyway.

How is it better that notpron? notpron gets really hard further on. So if it's only that it's harder...

A spin-off or imitation has to be significantly better than the original to get a lot of attention.

Pigbuster

It was actually made first, I think.
notpr0n is the most popular riddle, but it was inspired by This Is Not Porn.
Not porn might've been the first internet riddle, but I don't know.

I actually don't like online riddles too much, to tell the truth.
The only reason I like This Is Not Porn is because it's so creepy and weird, and it's kind of an alternate-reality-game, too.

Also, I think that there's something about #6 on notpr0n that makes me unable to solve it. Macs don't do what ALT is supposed to do.

CyberShadow
23 Aug 2006, 20:55
The Google bar is there for a reason as well.

If you know what exactly does the ALT key do on PCs, finding it on Google shouldn't be a problem.
