More people seem to play W:A.

I wouldn't say clans are a big thing but joining one could provide more opportunity for games.

Your best bet is to log onto WormNET on W:A and get in the #AnythingGoes room. You should find lots of folk happy to play various game types.

For technical support on installing W:A, scheme types, custom files, etc. please visit WAHelp: http://www.nanacide.com/wahelp/

Enjoy :)

Here's a list of the most active WA clans at the moment: http://www.armageddonleague.com/league/index.php?pid=28&lid=2

It's the standings page of a new league which started just last month. Also note how the clan I'm in isn't on it. That's because we're so insanely cool we don't even need to play the game anymore. Ha.

Vader

(o\|/ are far cooler and were the world's first ever Worms clan.

We've made some pretty substantial contributions to the community, including cow shots and Sheep BnG.

Also, we are so cool we no longer need a website. Unfortunately, archive.org is down so I can't show you the old one.

"World's first ever Worms clan"

Proof?

21 Aug 2006, 14:46
Well when it comes to the world's first something the only proof you need is a lack of proof against.

yakuza
21 Aug 2006, 15:06
Not really, as a claim can be easily beaten with another claim.

Noooooooooooooo. We do not want to go there. Not again.

We do not want to go there.

No, but if we must, we will. The world's second Worms clan will either back me up on this or lie to spite us, hehe.

We all know the truth. The fact that you don't, yakuza, is not my problem. ;)

21 Aug 2006, 20:03
Well, you can't posibly prove there wasn't a random clan before yours. Websites aren't the only valid records of a clan's legacy.

Although, you where the first clan to have the kind of people who would proclaim themselves the oldest clan ever, i can give you that as if there was a clan before CoW they probably don't care as much as you do.

Vader
21 Aug 2006, 20:36
It's not about being a certain type of person, it's about recording history. We are the oldest recorded Worms clan.

Why the big fuss?

Although, you where the first clan to have the kind of people who would proclaim themselves the oldest clan ever, i can give you that

Well it's quite clear by that comment that you have something against CoW that we're not aware of, and so you have set out to undermine CoW's standing in the timeline regardless of how important it is (being "not at all") just because you resent the idea that being the first implies being best, even though that's totally irrational logic to begin with, and therefore any argument with you is utterly pointless.

Back to your workstations people, nothing to see here any more

22 Aug 2006, 12:17
Cute paragraph.

Anyway, i was just asking for a proof and when all you get is:

"We are the oldest because everyone knows"

Then i guess you have the right to be a bit sceptikal about the claims. Of course you can continue to spread gossip about my hate towards a clan i never had any relation to.

The last phrase is interesting from a psychological point of view too.

Vader
22 Aug 2006, 19:50
I can't prove it because our website has been down for years. Perhaps you'd like to prove otherwise; since you're accusing me of lying it would be courteous of you to consider me innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Also, I'm not sure who you're quoting. If you're paraphrasing me then you've made an error. A better effort would come in the following form:

"Everyone knows we're the oldest clan because it's the truth."

Do you see how you had reversed the dependancies and therefore twisted my words? I can imagine (considering the quality of your posts) that you didn't.

Again, perhaps you'd like to prove that we're not the oldest Worms clan.

yakuza
22 Aug 2006, 20:03
As a matter of fact i never said CoW wasn't, i was just asking for a proof. I also pointed out that it would be imposible to proove there wasn't a random clan before CoW, after this you added that it was the oldest recorded clan.

I'd like to see those records, unless of course, the website was the only one, if so i guess i will go to sleep today without a proof of CoW being the oldest clan, wich doesn't bother me at all as you want to make it seem as i was just talking out of curiosity.

Vader
22 Aug 2006, 20:08
*sigh*

Fine, according to the memories of the members of the Worms community, CoW were the first and are the oldest Worms clan.

Anyway, why would ask me to prove something unless you didn't believe me? I don't understand why you want proof. I can't even think of how I would prove it other than going back in time (which anyone can see isn't going to happen).

bonz

COW Info

You've been chanting our name to newbies for years, you won't find us in WACL or CL2K and you probably haven't even seen us on Wormnet yet we are the oldest active Worms clan around today, this year will be our 4th birthday which makes us older than the W.A patch! Unbelievable huh?

So are we mental? Hardcore gamers?? Or just too drunk to quit???

COW? CHEET! I KEEL YOU GRINGO!
The actual meaning of this so called insult seems to be a mystery to most people, newbies pick it up and it just keeps on going. We actually find it quite funny.

SunDogs post on the official message board:
back in the early days no one had heard of a leader game or any other of the numerous rules that now go with propers...so Co\|/ (Chilled Out Worms) come up with the tactic of concentrating on a single worm to take the opposition down to 2v1.
This meant attacking a worm no matter how weak he was...kinda "cowardly" I admit. I think Worro did first come up with the idea of using our clan tag as an insult....but it gradually progressed from there. As we moved away from ropers and into BnG we still used the same tactic....slowly the CoW insult grew & grew....into what is used today.

Back then we just played for fun, the rules you all play by today had yet to be invented, the rope sets were different and waterdrops hadn't been discovered.
As with most games the more you play the better you get so the "crate first" rule was implemented and to make the game a little easier on the less skilful players the "kill the leader" rule was added, kinda like king of the hill.
Water drops were discovered, which made most of the weaponry in the general rope sets redundant, so we removed things like the old lady, cows etc, and again in the interest of fairness we removed the more powerful weapons like sheep, dynamite etc, and ended up with the rope sets that you all play today.
Along with COW you have TEC (The Elite Clan, you might know them as TEA now), DFWU (Don't **** With Us), NBK (Natural Born Killers), DRS (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) to thank or curse for the modern rope game

But if you want to have some major changes or important announcements please come to me first, I'll have the end vote on important matters
Thx for listening! Good luck and have fun in our clan, ciao.

June 28 1999 by RaZZoR - Opening news continued
This be the first NEWS so I think its only correct to introduce us all, I'm RaZZoR, its me u gotta blame for this tripe you are reading, you will find me trying out new members and organising the current ones. DrPepper is "Da Boss", he's in charge of us all, so if u need to go straight to the top go find him. Jadriel, what can I say, this is the man who made the thing your looking at, so mucho respecto please, he worked hard on this, he will be out in the field playing, however be warned his custom games are pretty strange, he just cant control his imagination but it is fun. And last but not least we got SunDog the final member of the government, he will be out there looking after you guys, helping u have fun and doing some tryouts, any probs he's your first port of call, that's what he's there for, and he'll prolly be answering a lot of msg board questions.

29 June 1999 by RaZZoR - New members
So we been running for a few hours now and things are really MMmmOoooOOooving already. We have 9 new members (they are Hanable, TheDaftOne, Phlegm, Hades, Bulldog66, Beat2K, Willywonka, Tracer and Kingworm) that makes 13 in total, not bad even if I do say so meself.

July 3 by DrPepper - Members
Well we are running just fine now, we have at least 5 tryout requests each day! We have now over 20 members and we've only been running for 5 days. I know not many people thought we could do this, but you see you never know. We are planning on making this clan bigger and bigger. We have another new member today, Joy, he'll be added in the memberlist. that's all for today. ciao.

Well thats how it all started, rather than just repeat the news, I'll give you a brief description of dates and significant events from here on in :)

Continuation to follow in 3, 2...

July 1999
It was today that it all went off, the four of us who started Co\|/ were all originally W@W members, we tried to remain friends but events happened that led to a war of words, CoLoN and Doc had a little argument between themselves, and we decided to steer clear of each other, oh what fun worms is :)
The very first Co\|/ league is released, from what I remeber Jadriel wrote it, but it was a manually updated fare. We also had 2 more peeps join us, Ice-Tee and Bahamut. That took member count to 24.
Jadriel became the first member to make the famed A+ grade, beating Doc in a roper, no mean feat in the early days i can tell you. Doc also spoke to Sniper to see if we could have our own channel on Cleanairs server (never lacking ambition was Doc), the idea being to have an automated league. Unfortunately it never came to fruition.
Our 25th member joined, Carpe Diem. Wormsnooper was in beta test, released to only 10 people, unperturbed Doc managed to get hold of screen shots and put these up on our site, wormnet was taken down for the weekend (no change huh:)), in order for the servers to be converted from NT to Linux.
Internal differences shook through the clan and resulted in RaZZoR and Jadriel leaving :( The league was still running but had some rule changes, and Luggage stepped up to become management.
Jadriel was back..LoL. And was placed into the new postiion of Prime Minister (Co-Leader). Aron made it to Elite grade on wormnet, which meant Co\|/ now had 8 Elite grades.
Wormsnooper was released, to everyones enjoyment, we put up a link so you could D/L from the Co\|/ site. We also moved the league onto Phlegms server, as Phlegm was in charge of updating it.

August 1999
The return of RaZZoR :), as well as 3 other new members, Tombstone, Freakyelectroniq and none other than AntonAAA. Luggage was also working on a cgi version of the Co\|/ league, which was almost finished
A japanese player joined Co\|/, PPPP, which made our membership 30. More importantly Luggage finished his cgi script and the CCL(Co\|/ Championship League) was released to everyones amazement. A fully automated and updated league. It was a fantastic surprise which went down really well.
September & October
These two months were largely taken up with CCL games, the Co\|/ Championship League was chugging along at a grand old pace, it was the talk of other clans, and our members seemed to love it. A wonderful piece of cgi scripting by Luggage gave us a league which had automated reported, the loser simply entered details about the game, put in a validating password and submitted the result, within the blink of an eye the league was instantaneously updated, yor game count was reduced, and upon reaching a certain level of gams won, you was awarded a bronze, silver or gold cow, with the ultimate aim of the Atomic cow. A few members came and went, and news posts slowed quite considerably during these months.
November
Things were still moving apace, I think about now was Jadriels second departure from Co\|/, as a new Prime Minister was announced, JohnMac took on the role, and in the short space he was in the post done a sterling job. This month also saw Sniper become a T17 member, in order to bring their official WA site up to date, and another landmark for Co\|/ as we became the first (and only at that time) clan site to be added and reveiwed to the links section on the official site. There were a few management changes, not least Anton's promotion into the management. We also saw the demise of Phlegm, a loyal and early member of Co\|/ who just seemed to disappear off the face of the earth.

December 1999
News filtered out about Angels secret project which never came to fruition unfortunately, yes we almost had a new Nav bar, oooh so close. CCl games were continuing apace, with the more frequent players beginning to reach the higher ranks, that atomic cow was within reach. We also saw the return of Co\|/s very own human boomerang, yes the Jadriel was once more welcomed back with open arms. As December (and the millenium) came to a close, it became clear that the CCL's creator, Luggage, would win it with an outstanding record. We also took a vote on Co\|/ becoming a multi gaming clan, the vote showed everyone thought it to be a great idea, and 3 games, Unreal Tournament, C&C Tiberian Sun and Quake 3 were the favourites to be added to Worms Armageddon to make us into a larger, multi gaming clan, Jadriel put his thinking cap on and a new site became a possability.

January 2000 - a whole new millenium
Johnmac welcomed Co\|/'ers into the new millenium, with news about the nw site. It was to be written in ASP and was to include pages for Unreal Tournament and Tiberian Sun, we would also be looking for a seperate management for each game, as well as different meanings of the word Co\|/ for each game. Thnigs began to slow very much for Co\|/, as Doc's time was eaten up with playing UT as well working at his new job with Pandroa, the people who host the current co\|/ site.

February 2000
A huge month in the history of Co\|/, for me at least, as DrPepper decides he hasnt enough time to keep Co\|/ going, he ventures off into new pastures, to begin a UT clan and hands the reigns over to yours truly, SunDog. This month also saw JohnMac step down as PM and leave Co\|/ all together :(, we therefore opened up a poll in order to vote in a new Prime Minister. Jadriel continued to work on the new asp site, and we released the link to allow people to see the hard work Jad had put in.

March 2000
Gav decided to leave us and move on, tempted by an offer of co-leader of W2K, run by a former Co\|/ Richard'o'Brien. We also lost Luggage this month, after playing all thise CCL games he finally tired of worms and decided to run off with the inaugural CCL trophy. The votes for the new Prime Minister were counted up and revealed Beat2K to be the highest regarded candidate, although BaZZeR gave him a good run for his money. Jadriel was continuing to work on the asp site, and had the coding in place for 4 new message boards. And finally the Allotment held a Worms 2000 awards ceremony, candidates voted for by the worms community, and Co\|/ managed to get runner-up in the Best Clan Site category.

April 2000
We opened this month with the news about changes to our internal grades, you could now attain A+ by winning either a roper against BaZZeR or a BnG game against Beat2K. Team 17 rocked the worms world twice, firstly they announced that a forth installemnt would be released in the 4th quarter of 2000 called Worms World Party, upon hearing this news there was mixed reaction, with the doubters voicing their opinions very hard, with this in mind T17 decided to remove the unoffiial message board link from their oficial site. April also saw the long running clan WickedAssWorms (W@W) finally come to an end, dwindling, inactive members coupled with CoLoN's commitment to regular updates of the WACL saw the clan fold and close. April also saw another boomerang impression by Gav who decided W2K wasnt for him and his heart and home was Co\|/.

May 2000
May saw the double Elite league winner, CrackDealer, join Co\|/, along with the A-Teams very own Vader. 2 vey popular and well known wormers :) We also found that in light of T17's actions the worms world was very quite, so Co\|/ sought entertainment elsewhere, branching into 2 very different games. We firstly had Archmage, an online browser game of wizard warfare. And then I introduced Infantryzone, a top down shoot em up that is in *free* Beta test. There wasn't too much else happening so we all went and had some fun.

June 2000
And that brings us up to present date. This month saw the release of the still under construction, *new* CCL, written by Jad. Hopefully to celebrate our birthday we can soon launch it. This month also saw our newest member join, Kefal became the newest Co\|/ to show that throughout its entire first year I dont think a month went by when we didnt have a new member join, plenty have come, some have gone, but all had fun while they were here, and thats what mattres most. Heres to another year and long live the CO\|/ :)

Don't blame me.

Maybe we were the first W:A clan or something. I'd ask SunDog (he was the one who told me at first) but he vanished years ago :(

It's quite shocking when you've believed something for so long and then it turns out to be wrong. :(:(
