Woo! I'm done!

Hopefully. It kinda stopped working, and I can't figure out why... The thrust engine stalled, and now it doesn't want to start again.

Good job.

See you didn't sand down those edges, though. :p

Haha

Aesthetics are the least of my concern...;) I still have an engine that I need to make work right...:p

Katie couldn't make it to my demonstration though...:(

Perhaps there will be a private demonstration at some point in your future ;)

I definitely hope you will install a protective cage around the propeller.

Pigbuster

Yes, I second that.
And may I ask why you need that gas-mask type thing?

To hide his identity on the internet.
The license plates of the cars in the background are not his, but are stolen. :)

BTW, way to go for that pair of orange Fiskars scissors in the foreground! :D

That is the safest thing I have ever seen

[/sarcasm]

;)

Oh, the fan doesn't need a cage... ;)

Haha, if you think it looks dangerous there, you should see how I have to START the thing... I have to wrap a rope around the axle and then pull on it to start the engine spinning. I had to remove the standard pull start.

And I actually cut my arm on the propellor when I was trying to start it once... But it was only spinning on my arm power at the time - it hadn't turned over yet.

The respirator is because the engine smokes like hell. And it's not pleasant to breathe that stuff.

How the heck did you know they were Fiskars?

Now if you look REALLY carefully, about midway between the handle of the scissors and the end of the bench, you can see a little vertical line which is a sewing needle stuck into the wood, with a thread dangling down.

That's all my skirt-repairing kit for in case something ripped. (the skirt is the black fabric thingy at the bottom, if you didn't know)

Actually, when I was talking to K^2 about the hovercraft skirt, this jem was said:

Me: I actually turned up the bottom edge of the skirt, so that there is a place where I could easily slip something in there
K^2: This is definetly not the conversation that you want someone to overhear at the wrong moment.

It's the orange handles, or at least that's what does it for me.

How the heck did you know they were Fiskars?
We've had one of those since I can remember. Must be 20+ years.

Did you set out to make the most unsafe hovercraft in the world?

Pigbuster
2 Aug 2006, 21:17
Ooh! Put a sharp metal spike on top of the control rod that points directly at your head.
And get rid of the back you have on the chair.
And put some cyanide in the engine to give it an extra "kick".
THEN we'd be getting somewhere.

And get rid of the back you have on the chair.
Actually, I wasn't even planning on having a back on the chair. I was planning on just sitting on the red stool thing, but then someone gave me a clip-on chair meant to be used for bleachers and stuff, but I realized I could use it on the hovercraft, and so I put it on at the last minute.

I still can't start the thrust engine again.:( It just doesn't go...

Perhaps it's for the best.

Got it running again!

I think I know what was going wrong...

Phone call from Aardman Animations. They want to make a plasticine model of you. It helps if you have a passion for cheese and a dog who's smarter than you...

Sorry. Awesome stuff, there. I'd be useless at trying to build something like that (Design it, maybe. Build? Pssh, no).

That there's a sweet ride.

My dad gave me a push there, actually. It doesn't move that fast on its own power. Actually, to be honest, it doesn't really move much at all on its own power. I don't know if that's because I didn't use a couling, or for some other reason.

You can see the big cloud of smoke eminating from it. THAT's why I was wearing the respirator in the photo.

The video is only ~10kb in size... :-/No it's not. You probably didn't copy+paste the link into the address bar and got hit by the hotlink protection. :p

And that looks rather neat.

No it's not. You probably didn't copy+paste the link into the address bar and got hit by the hotlink protection.
Well, as suggested, I right clicked and saved the target.

Yeah, looks nice. :D

Looks like you need a more powerfull motor..

SomePerson

Thanks!

Yes, I definately need a more powerful engine or a bigger fan or something. I'm confused though, because I used about the same setup as this guy, and yet he claims to have gone 25 miles per hour... I used a weed whacker engine, just like he did, and I used a 24" propellor where his was 22".

I think my next project will be to build a pulse jet engine.:D

Edit: And maybe if I feel adventurous I'll put it on the hovercraft...
