Last year's result was awful. Eight Worms games dominated the Top 10.

This year that will not happen.

I have plans which will get things like Deus Ex and Quake III up to the top, rather than all of the Worms series.
First: as before, state your top 10.

I'll post mine when get further in The Movies.

Possibly this would work better if, say, you went for the Top Fifty Game Series?

I have plans which will get things like Deus Ex and Quake III up to the top.Gee, that's impartial judgement.

Last year's result was awful. Eight Worms games dominated the Top 10.No it isn't. You took a democratic poll of an electorate mostly consisting of Team 17 fans. What were you expecting? It's like asking people living in South Wales whether they think socialism's a good idea or not.

And of course we all know the answer to that.

It's yes, right?

Well then, let me think...
At the moment, my favourite games are:

10: Trackmania Sunrise
9: Micro Machines V3
8: Worms Forts: Under Siege
7: Mashed
6: Burnout 4
5: Timesplitters: Future Perfect
4: Earth 2160
3: Worms 4 Mayhem
2: Micro Machines V4
1: Black & White 2 (and expansion)

Paul.Power

It's very simple. Do it based on game series, not games. That way you won't have eight Worms games hogging the top 10, but one Worms series.

Yep, The Movies rock! My favourite.

1. The Movies / Stunts and Effects
2. The Simpsons Hit & Run

4. DRIV3R
5. Ghost Master

The problem with that is that any individual games wont stand much of a chance. Especially when in league with the series that have dozens of games in them.

Quake III was NOT rubbish. Well ok, it didn't have proper singleplayer, but it still wasn't too shabby.
Well, excatly. It had a fairly decent multiplayer, but that was it. And really, the multiplayer did very little that Half Life, Unreal, Goldeneye, Halo and so forth don't -- and two of those are also among the all-time great single player games, so really, Quake III has no excuse. I mean, look at Worms -- that's essentially a pure multiplayer game, but Team17, before releasing a game, have thought things through and come up with a range of missions and subgames to keep single player mode entertaining -- by which I mean missions that are more interesting than simply battling increasingly difficult AI players. And I expect that from games these days. I expect something that doesn't require other people to be fun. I expect at least if I buy a multiplayer-only game, to be able to play it against my friends. Quake III simply doesn't offer that without lugging all their computers to one place and setting up a network or else us all going home and playing on the internet, if it works and if we can all get on a computer once we're home. Am I really the only person who isn't satisfied by either of those options?

When you get down to it, I suppose there isn't really anything bad about Quake III, but it really is so far away from being a classic game it's almost laughable. I think, honestly, it appeals to a very narrow band of people -- nerds, in a word. It's not a classic game. It's a mildly diversting sideshow.

That's what I think, anyway.

I've also found there's a giant influence in these sorts of things - you have games which are great, games which are great fun, and games you have to say are great. For example, the original Sonic the Hedgehog - ever noticed how reviewers say it was the best one, how none have ever lived up to it? I challenge you to find one way it was superior to Sonic 3.

But, well my list, and I'm quite happy to suggest the Worms games might not be on there:

1. Deus Ex (1)
2. Metal Gear Solid (1)
3. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (including expansion pack because it was intended to be there anyway)
4. Shenmue (1)
5. Pokemon Red
6. Micro Machines v3
7. Half Life 2
8. Grand Theft Auto 3
9. Final Fantasy 9
10. Guild Wars

And now for my miscellaneous favourites:

1. Kill.Switch
2. Battle Engine Aquila
3. Full Spectrum Warrior
4. The Matrix Online
5. Hitman: Blood Money

That's right, just like that. That was acceptable for an original and unique game released in 1995. It is not acceptable, at least, not to me, for a thoroughly uninspired first-person-shooter released in 1999, in a series which already had two proper games in it. I expect at least a modicum creativity from a game. I don't think that's unreasonable. Quake III cost more on release than Worms did, too.

1. (PC) The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion (Thanks to the modding community!)
2. (PC) Psychonauts (Completed some weeks ago- absolutely psychotic experience. Highly recommended for every gamer! Psychonauts is a living proof of how games should be made.)
3. (PC) Half-Life 2: DM (Playing often on The Sanctuary server...)
4. (PC)Neverwinter Nights (Custom modules still keep up my interest...until NWN2)
5. (PSP) Daxter (Great platformer, perfectly equal in all aspects to J&D series on PS2)
6. (PC) Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (Playing LAN sessions is still fun)
7. (PC) Trackmania Nations (Come on, it's a free, complete game! Designing your own tracks is fun)
8. (PSOne) Final Fantasy IX (Great, long story, played it to the end twice, good music score and interesting characters...makes me want to play through it again)
9. (PS2) Ratchet & Clank series
10. (PS2) Jak & Daxter series

I'd add Worms series to the 11th place, but I'd rather use a Top 10-list.

That is just another game I REALLY, REALLY WANT! But it doesn't come out in the UK til 29 September. Why is Square-Enix taking so long to release it in the UK?
It came out in the US in March. So why have we had to wait SIX MONTHS?!
