Athlon Xp 2400+ @ 175mhz FSB
1gb MDT Ram PC400
Geforce 6800
Win XP

Danke jegliche für Hilfe

Translation:

When playing Worms 3D, i always have the problem that i get screenlags when selecting another worm, collecting a crate or a worm is dying.
They don´t last long, but this is very annoying.

<system specs>

Thanks for helping

I get that, but only on the CPU's turn. When do you get it? The thing is, W3D and W4M are very ram-consuming,as the CPU has to calculate where to shoot, with indestructible land, with witch weapon, which trajectory etc and when he gets a crate, trys to figure out a new strategy if avaliable. I find it annoying too, but I think there's no fix, 'cept upgrade your PC

If you get it in every turn, not just the CPU's, then I have no idea...
Can someone trnslate this to german for him? (Was heisst das auf Deutsch?) I know a small bit of german, but I've only been learning it for a year, so I can't translate that, I'm not even sure if my little bit of GErman was correct...

Btw. Muzer: Your german is perfect. You even used the new orthography, writing heisst and not the old one heißt ;)

well I couldn't be bothered to go to charater map to get the sharp 's', so I used ss instead.

Have they really changed sharp 's' to ss? Because in our german lessons, we still use the sharp 's'...

Yes, it's now officially "heisst".

I'll have to tell my german teacher that, then...

Is that the same with other words using sharp 's'? Or is it just heisst?

Every ß is now officially a double s. :)

Every ß is now officially a double s. :)

Sorry, this is not correct.

ß is still used in a proper noun and after a long vowel or diphthong: Maß, schließen, reißen, draußen ...
After a short vowel always ss instead of ß: messen, Schloss, gerissen, Riss, küsst ...

Ah, thanks for the correction. I didn't know that. :) It's sort of illogical to switch from using one system to two different systems. Maybe the German language council, or whoever decided all this, will eventually see that switching over completely is the most logical and efficient switch to perform.

The switch occured quite recently. If I remember correcly, it was around the moment I started learning german, in 1995 or so. That could explain why it's not complete yet. France had tried to change a lot of its orthograph during the 80s, but pupils still learn the old stuff at school.

Still, I've been learning the 'old' german version, so your explanation is worth knowing. I'm wondering why you write "Maß", but "dass" (I've always written daß actually), since the vowel is the same.

I'm wondering why you write "Maß", but "dass" (I've always written daß actually), since the vowel is the same.

That is because 'Maß' has a long a and 'dass' (or 'daß' in old orthography) has a short a. It depends on the time you need to pronounce the vovel, not on the vovel itself.

Exception: As i said in my previous post, proper nouns like 'Weßling' arn`t affected and never will be, even though the 'e' is a short one.

And btw: they gonna change orthography on the 1st of August again. ôô
No joke.

The new ß/ss rule is actually more logic now.
It's about the only one I really use.
