If you do, please get in touch with me, especially if you use Linux.

What is the "sold out" one? I might have it.

Sorry, don't have it. Why do you want that version? Is there something special about it?

I was intentionally not announcing the reason..or even announcing that I want it outside OD. That's because I have a tendency to start planning projects and then end them before they're anything more than vaporware.

But oh well, what harm could it do, especially now that I've given a warning. I'd like to write an installer for WA that handles getting the patch/update correctly and sets things up properly on Wine, including the hacks needed there.

At the moment, I have no code written at all to accomplish this, but I have copies of the original US and UK cds. I'd like to get at least a listing of the contents of the sold out cd (not necessarily a copy, since that's illegal and would involve sending a lot of data), and find someone who can test it with that cd.

I'm still not entirely sure how I want this to work, but it'll be written in pure python (just like everything else I write) and it'll probably be an exe file, at least initially. I was originally going to write it to run from the Linux end, but that created some problems I don't think I can properly solve. I think I can detect Wine and interact with Linux properly from the Windows side of thing. And, well, given all that, I might as well make the thing work on real Windows.

Ok, can you send me a listing of the files on it?

The entire CD, you mean?
Sure, I can do that. I'll have to do it this evening though - I have work soon.

Yeah, that should be enough to keep me from bothering you for a long time (until I have something that should work there in theory, possibly never).

The power supply in my computer seems to have burned out yesterday, producing a disturbing smell. That will set me back.

Does anyone know of a program that will create a Windows directory listing and save it as a text file?

I used this yesterday:
http://www.tawbaware.com/filelist.htm

(Normally I would do it like this: http://www.theeldergeek.com/file_list_generator.htm, but you can't save the listing to a CD.)

Ouch!
IIRC, the directory listing of all files & folders with full paths of W:A CD had ~130kb.
