View Full Version : Happy (late) 4th, Americans

Even as Bush, his administration, and just about anybody else in control of anything right now slowly and systematically erodes and/or actively destroys everything America is and once was, we can't forget what that is. Maybe some day it will be again.

And hey, those of us who did it right got to watch stuff blow up for a while.

America haters -- I know you're in here; I won't use names -- can express their opinions by not posting in this thread.

The 4th was a good thing for me since we didn't get to receive calls today because there barely was one :D

The 1st is basically for Canadians what the 4th is for Americans, but either way it's just another day for me. I express my gratitude for living in a semi-sane nation by not celebrating wildly and consuming more resources than I already do.

Okay, that's a miserable excuse, I'm lazy and I've got nowhere to go and nobody to go with. It's not as bad as Valentine's Day, but it serves as another reminder. I'm hitting Submit Reply now for no reason in particular other than this is OD.

4th of July last year was the first time Katie ever hugged me.*

Haha, THAT's what this day means to me, not the independence of our nation. ;)

* So I go to my town's fireworks celebration, and I see my friends (I don't see Katie) and go over to them. I walk up beside Max without his knowing and tap him on the shoulder, and then an unseen Katie lunges from nowhere and hugs me. Sadly I was too surprised to hug her back. Later that evening she danced with me too. *sigh* That was a good day.....

Today America celebrates its nominal independance on Britain. If it can only achieve independance from the Middle East it'll be practically an adult nation.

It's nice to see one's nation's children grow up, even if they do grow into big bullies.

4'th of July is all about avoiding asking for help from brittish people.

I'm pretty sure we have some sort of Independence Day, I just can't remember it. All we do around here is have fireworks anyways, so have fun doing... whatever you do in the 4th of July. Probably fireworks.

I think the Irish equivalent is...

Huh. Doesn't look like there is one.

That's because THE ENGLISH OWN YOU.

Well, at least the most violent bit.

I just understood that.

I think that there IS a sort of independence day. Not listed anywhere though.

This year was, I believe, the first time it was officially commemerated.

We have a national day, but I have no idea if it has anything to do with being indepentent. It's more of a "we rule" day, that nobody dares celebrate because their afraid people will think they are being racist :p

Speaking of which, on I was on a LAN during our national day, but the night before we had gone away to rollplay at a friends place. On the way back the subway litteraly got filled with nazis going to a park to demonstrate.. =S

It's not pro Americanism, I posted to avoid being labeled anti-American. If I wasn't an America hater and didn't have anything to say, how would you know if I had an anti-American opinion to express or not?

Failure to post in this thread doesn't necessarily imply anti-Americanism, though.

We started a Warewolf campaign. Though we never really finish games, since they keep wanting to play different stuff >.>

Never played werewolf. The fastest game I've heard of was done in two or three rounds. I've forgotten how...

Where's the verb in that sentence?
What Finnish games did you play?

That depends what you mean by finished as it only goes for as long as the players want to keep playing missions/storys/campaigns :P

Ah, that is what we humans call a typo.

Ha!
Don't withhold those games from us!
Getting "finnished" sounds like fun.
Does it involve alcohol?

It involves the help of at least three girls, and a full bottle of vodka.

First anniversary of the London Bombings yesterday.

All things considered, I think we've coped pretty well.

Yes it does. We rarely finnish thoose Finish games. Finish games generally require drinking more booze than nessisary, that's why they are rarealy ever finnished, since we fall over drunk too soon.

As I recall, both of the werewolves had been killed.

Is Werewolf the one where you sit around in a circle and try to find the werewolf? Or are you/am I thinking of a different game?
