I've made quite a few myself. Never actually finished a proper one, though :p

Great vids, but that song is the single most annoying thing in the world.
Still, those are pretty amazing if you turn the volume down a bit.

You should, it's fun. At least watching the result... The process of making them is just frustrating :p

Yep.
They all got their inspiration from Rube Goldberg.

Very intracate, but I prefer the HL2 ones. more explosions, less annoying music. Besides, why lob a marble when you can lob G-Man? :p

Because real physics are much more, ehrm..., realistic?
And it takes much, much more effort to build a Rube Goldberg device in reality than in a computer game engine.

It's not fake.

The tires rolling up the slope can be achieved by weights and everything else doesn't look odd to me anyway.

I mean, isn't it just easier to make the food yourself instead of building a huge device?

I'd like to get hold of the short movie "Der Lauf der Dinge" (The way things go) by the two Swiss Peter Fischli and David Weiss.
http://www.tcfilm.ch/lauf_txt_e.htm

Years ago at a music festival they were showing it on the background of the kitchen tent.
It's a 100 feet long and 30 min lasting Rube Goldberg device that includes fire, water and chemical reactions.

Edit:
According to Snopes.com in 2003 those two actually tried to sue Honda for their "The Cog" advertisment.
