Hi, people.

Now, let me start by telling you about my computer. It's about three years old, and until just recently it was acting buggy and had a habit of not being cooperative - three years of (ab)use does that to hard drives. I fixed that a few weeks ago, completely reformatting C: - and now it behaves.

So, one day, long before the "fix-up", I got Worms World Party (Best Buy Edition). I installed it, and played it. No problems... for the most part.

Then, another day, something weird happened. Whenever I wanted to create or edit a team, the game went out to Windows - half. Supposedly a menu for creating/editing teams should appear, but... it didn't. It just stuck there, black screen, grey text boxes. And then, complete nothing at all. Only thing I could do when that happened was opening the task manager and exiting the game.

I found this very weird, because before, I had been able to create and edit my teams within the game interface, without any going out to Windows. This came out of the blue. I hadn't done anything with the game. Not downloaded any updates, nothing. It just happened.

So I stopped playing WWP.

Now... today, I uncovered the game and installed it, because I was to play online with a guy. The disc was in pretty bad shape, but well - I cleaned it off, and my DVD burner accepted it - it's great, it has taken very bad-looking discs before. Installation went good. Game starts without any problems.

But - you may have figured it out - I encounter the SAME PROBLEM as before the reformat.

I can't create a team. I can't edit a team. I can't even access the game options. It just changes to Windows, but doesn't DO anything. Just shows the grey boxes on a black screen. Completely freezes. Has to be manually exited via task manager.

So, question is of course... has anyone encountered this problem before? Does anyone know what can be done to fix it? And yes, I have downloaded the Service Pack 1 patch.

Thanks in advance.

What was running in the background that caused this? I hope you'll check this thread again so you can post what the problem was.
