Been a while since I've visited the forums, but I just regained interest in Worms, and have a Wormlust. I installed it.. however here's what happened;

1) After installing it, everytime I tried to run it, I got a Blue Screen Of Death which said WINDOWS ( Not Warning, or System is Busy ). It happens twice, during the "black loading screen", followed by an illegal operation.

I figure, ok, i'll restart. BAD MOVE. Windows Protection Error during POST.
TONS OF THEM.

I restore registry backup, and return to sanity. I try again, same thing happens.

3 Registry Restores Later..

..
..

" Screw this, I'll play Worms Armageddon. "

2 Registry Restores Later..
...
...
...god damnit.

Same EXACT thing happens.

2) About a week or two later, I update Video/Sound drivers, and to my suprise, Worms now works, KINDA'. ( The suprise is because I tried again, knowing I was going to fail, and always, I was proven right. Suprised to the second power, the updating ACTUALLY DOES WORK, contrary to popular belief. )

So here I am, happy. I exit worms with a proud smile. I click the X, only to see the black buttons, with no writing in them! Ruh roh!

I quickly reopen it, tension building.. The buttons don't say OK or CANCEL!

I go into options, seeking help! To no avail..... All the bars where teamnames belong, and the "Intermediate" area ARE BLANK. I click the Drop-Down menu button, and they're there, and I select one, and now it appears!..

I go into Edit Team Details, ALMOST NOTHING THERE, NAMES; GONE. ;[[[[

I have DirectX 9.0c, with NOW upgraded video/sound drivers.. I have played Worms before.. Spyware Scan and Virus Scan have been dealt with.. Updated drivers before seeking help.. and even meditated, seeking BoggyB's help.. All of which have failed.. Now I turn to you, ALMIGHTY TEAM17 FORUM PEOPLE. HELP RESTORE A LEGEND, UPON A LEGEND..

..thanks.

You could have tried installing the latest update while you were at it. Instructions here: www.nanacide.com/wahelp/

Edit: That is if you made the wise decision to actually screw WWP and play WA.

So, what, exactly, is the problem? You can't see some text? You'll need to explain your problem more clearly before we can help. I got confused at this bit:I click the X, only to see the black buttons, with no writing in them! Ruh roh! What X did you click? What black buttons did you see? Are you talking about the game-exiting button on the main menu screen?I quickly reopen it, tension building.. The buttons don't say OK or CANCEL!By "it", were you referring to WWP after you had exited it completely, or were you referring to the exit confirmation dialogue box that you had just closed? This isn't really relevant, but I was just unsure. :) You don't have to answer that question.I go into options, seeking help! Were you expecting there to be a "show text in dialogue boxes" option? :p

Okay, so, reading over your post, it seems like you're able to play WWP, but some text in the frontend is invisible. Could you please take screenshots of this problem with Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/download.php), for clarity? I, personally, have never heard of this problem, and I'm sure others haven't either. Documenting it well for the forum would be nice. :)

I explained it best I could, and I can't run FRAPS on Windows 98 SE, I don't think. I've tried before.. It's like.. The black boxes are supposed to show Dialog like "Ok" and "Cancel", but they don't. They're missing like..layers. Same in the Team screen, it doesn't show the teammates names, unless I click on them first, I don't know what's wrong!

Worms Armageddon doesn't do this, well, it does like SOMETIMES. I'm not sure why.. :[

my experience with FRAPS is that non of the required hotkeys work no matter what. (winXP home)

BoggyB, when it's happening, please quit WWP and, with the Task Manager (openable with ctrl+alt+delete), check what processes are running. Then, post that list here.
