View Full Version : Odd - I can't highlight or scroll

If I click and drag to highlight, it doesn't work. It will occasionally highlight the odd bit but rather than starting from where I clicked, it starts past where I clicked and stops before I let go. The same goes for the scroll bar on the right hand side. It doesn't matter which browser I use, it happens with all of them. The first time I noticed something was odd was when I was using Photoshop not long ago and it wouldn't let me drag. I have run AdAware (found nothing) and restarted. I am now running Norton.

Anyone know what's wrong?

My computer started doing that a few weeks ago. Sounds to me like your mouse button has given out. Try a different mouse. Worked for us.

It is the scroll lock button on your keyboard. I cleaned my keyboard once () and it took me ages to find what was wrong :p

Pressing it makes no difference, so no.

He never admitted it. They don't know yet.

I assume he was talking about himself and some other people who possibly also use the same computer.

I used to be a schitzophrenic, but we're alright now.

It's happening again. I would go out and buy a new mouse but that would involve driving:(

We got the symptons correct, just not the disease!

Anyway, I always though thats what schitzophrenia was; I think its what most people do. Ah well, you learn something new every day.

I had a similar problem a while ago, except it was only scrolling, and I was using a touchpad, which was unreliable anyway. It would work one day and not the next, I solved it by buying a mouse, so it probably would solve it if you got a new one.

Happans to me sometimes, but only rarely. Even then it's not for long. The mouse wheel also refuses to work and sometimes links and buttons won't click.

Now we all know! The wonders of wikipedia. Terry Pratchett was right, 90% of 'common knowledge' is complete rubbish.

It's definetly the mouse button. When I swap the buttons in control panel, I can scroll fine using the right mouse button.
