How do I get my game patched so I can play Worms2 online? There's a problem to play about with! I've got Now. and Sold Out technology!

do you mean some sort of advertisment patch?

Nope. He means the official W2 patch.

What exactly would that be / do?

fix general game bugs and allow online play.

Franpa, he asked specifically about Des' (adamrigdon's) mention of a hypothetical "sort of advertisement patch". He knows what the real, official patch does. Please read more carefully, next time. :)

We don't quite know yet.

No, Franpa. Read the thread. Des was wondering if the "Sold Out" version of the Worms 2 CD had "some sort of advertisment patch", which he probably assumed because of the name, "Sold Out". Please, please, try to read rather than skim before responding.

i thought sold out was a brand and as such never associated it with an advertised version (version with ads in it)

Lex

Indeed, but Des didn't know the brand name.

I havn't tried the sold out or trymedia versions of the game -- but i figured if a 3rd party was releasing the same games they would probably include some sort of advertisement -- like, "You're playing Worms 2, you should also try our new game, blowing bubles with barny" or something like that -- thats why when repearz asked if it included some soft of patch, i assumed he meant an advertisement patch -- not an official game patch... I thought it was going to lead somewhere like, how can i remove these damn advertisements or something of the sort.

Anyway -- i guess i should have known he wasn't talking about an add patch, based on the very first post in this thread. But then, we all get confused sometime... some just more than others. :P

P.S. I'm closing this thread. Err... j/k im not a moderator.

The Sold-Out version is just a budget re-release.

Only thing close to an ad is the over-zealous autorun thing.

They re-released W2, WWP, but I've never seen a W:A one... hmm

Only thing close to an ad is the over-zealous autorun thing.
Which can be easily circumvented by disabling auto-run altogether.
Windows button + E is a nifty shortcut.

edit:
FYI, the budget re-releases of W2, W:A and WWP from www.greenpepper.de don't contain any ads.
The games are completely the same with the exceptions of Titus logos removed in WWP and all the patches, map packs & mission editor added in a sub-dir.

Why'd they remove the Titus logo?

'Tis still in the sold out version.

About autorun: Any ideas why it was turned off when I put a DVD burner in?

The SOS version, AFAIK, Does not have a patch in. That's WA.
I've been saying that an awfull lot within the past 2 weeks... 3 times

Why'd they remove the Titus logo?
Because www.greenpepper.de (or whatever other publisher) is distributing the re-release.
About autorun: Any ideas why it was turned off when I put a DVD burner in?
Because you don't want or need auto-play anyway.
Windows Key + E is your new friend.

And as I own a sold-out software version, I should know it does infact have a patch.

It isn't pre-patched as you install (as is with the Sold-Out WWP) but there is a patch on the disc:

In the Patch applicator, where do I patch it to. And do I get a menu of flags in the Network/Internet-Play menu?

1) Where ever you installed Worms2 to.

2) Yes.
