It would appear to have begun. Things of interest so far:

new Spore videos here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHaulHxmO4A) and here (first minute is old footage) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7hsp7XQHKs&search=spore), estimated release April 2007
next-gen Sonic trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ba_Nii0X-fM&eurl)
Smash Bros. and unnamed Mario game to be Rev-- er, Wii launch titles; Animal Crossing set for November 2007, Wario Ware in development
Wii controllers to have built-in microphone and speaker
Zelda: Twilight Princess to be released in conjuction with the Wii and to take advantage of the Wii controller for the sword, bow, and fishing rod
The PS3's controller will have motion sensitivity. Jesus Christus, the Wii isn't even out and already Sony is doing their damnedest to rip Nintendo off.

Just a quick recap, here. Shadow now has blingin' rocket sneakers, his own game in which he wielded a plethora of guns, and now a blingin' sporty car.

GEE I CERTAINLY DON'T SEE ANY POSSIBLE INDICATION OF STEREOTYPING (http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=140) THERE DO YOU

Gee, I can't wait till they announce that Twilight Princess comes out in 2007, and add ANOTHER year to my wait. Then I can go and shoot myself....or more importantly Nintendo. It better come out on the game cube. Because thats the only reason I didnt sell mine. I want to play the new Zelda on it.
Sonic nextGen...looks like it could be good. Great graphics, and no signs of Tails in sight.

MonkeyforaHead

Twilight Princess is coming out on the GC, and it's going to come out right alongside the Wii so that it can take (optional) advantage of the controller. The game was pretty much done for Christmas '05, they just decided to do some tweaking and the controller thing. That's it. :p

Latest news is that the next-gen Sonic trailer only applies to the PS3 and XB360. For Wii, Sega is actually making an entirely separate Sonic game, in which Sonic will be the sole starring character for the first time since the original game on the Genesis back in '91.

I did like Tails back before he had a voice. Knuckles and everyone beyond him were just kinda unnecessary. Hopefully this also means a sweet farewell to those satanic treasure-hunting levels.

Edit: For anyone who actually reads this in time, check out e3.nintendo.com for a live conference feed. They're just about to start.

Well, the feed went down right before Miyamoto announced which of the 3 lucky nerds would be the first non-developer to get his hands on a Wii. (KEEP YOUR MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER PEOPLE) Couldn't get back into it no matter how hard I tried, but it's now over, and apparently just before the end there was some footage shown of a new Pilotwings. Correction: Someone mistook footage of Snoopy vs. the Red Baron for Pilotwings. Still, there's always the possibility.

Edit: Damn Nintendo and their marketing schemes. Twilight Princess is NOT going to be for the GC with optional Wii features if played on the new console; there's going to be a GC version, and a separate Wii version. Screw that.

MonkeyforaHead
9 May 2006, 19:07
The Wii will also apparently have a standby mode that it goes into automatically, instead of turning off completely; in this mode, it consumes about the same amount of power as a miniature lightbulb (picture the bulb in a small flashlight), and remains connected to the internet if you do have a connection going. This will presumably play a large role in Animal Crossing, allowing you to send letters to someone without being in their village or something. (The reason lyou can't do this in the DS version is because if you wanted to send a letter to someone and they were offline, the letter would have to be stored in some sort of centralized Nintendo server and then delivered when that person logged on; something they just couldn't handle with the number of people playing the game.)

Also, it seems as though the console will have a built-in Opera web browser.

Edit: They're calling the motion-sensing device inside the controller an "accelerometer". Whatever.

MonkeyforaHead
9 May 2006, 19:57
Completely forgot, Nintendo is creating at least one completely new game/series.

Disaster: Day of Crisis (http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/3241/feagamepgdisaster3xa.png)

An accelerometer is just a fancy word for a motion sensor. It's also a far more accurate word for it.

X-Box: OMG same type of games. kick ass graphics.
Playstation 3: ...not even sure.
Nintendo: "its called wii". *everyone laughs* "Now this is what you can do with it. *silence*

Sure Nintendo is kinda out in left field...or so it seems. But who doenst like inovation? communists.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl revealed. Online multiplayer. Compatible with GC controller for those who prefer not to have to deal with a game like that on the Wiimote. 2007 release. New characters include Wario, Pit, Samus in her Zero Suit (read: futuristic skin-tight swimswuit), and... Solid Snake. Also featuring his ability to hide in cardboard boxes.

Edit: It's looking like Meta-Knight will also be playable. And Wario has a fart attack.

By the way, I think it's great how Nintendo is stealing all of Sony and M$'s thunder at E3 this year. It's definitely a sort of revenge for what happened last year. Seriously, in order to get that momentum back, Sony would have to announce that its new console will include Jesus. $599 for the PS3? That is ridiculous.

Why does Microsoft not want people to play this game at all? By making a game 360 exclusive nobody will ever get to play it :(

They also apparently drove a dumptruck of money up to Rockstar and got them to develop GTA4 for the PS3 and XB360 simultaneously, instead of making the XB360 version a port that winds up released a year and a half later or whatever.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could change into the suit by pressing a button combination, much like Zelda turns into Sheik. After all, it's the same person underneath.

Well, they are retaining RPG elements. Exactly what I don't know, but they'll definitely be in there. Personally I'm overjoyed to see them take a more platformer-oriented approach (one where you can rotate the camera to see the landscape from a completely different angle and presumably allow different types of interactions, too). Though it is following right on the heels of New Super Mario Bros., it still looks pretty fun.

I'd been ignoring it up until now, but I just checked out the two (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1949785424051136560&q=Prey) latest trailers (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9121840785563231281&q=Prey) for Prey. Wow. Duke Nukem Forever can wait.

Looks like Nintendo may yet have a thing or two hidden up their sleeve with regards to the Wii. Turns out, GameCube hardware was actually being used to run the Wii demonstration games at E3. Which ones it ran, if not all of them, is unknown. Another point of interest is that Iwata said previously that the main body of the console would be made slightly smaller; so far, it still looks identical, except with "Wii" printed on the front of it.

Right now I don't particularly care anyway, I just want to know what the retail price will be. :p

Quote from a recent article interviewing Will Wright.
"It would take you 79 years if you never slept" to fully explore the "Spore" universe, Mr. Wright says, based on his own calculations.

Effing wow.

He also appears to be a chainsmoker. Damn. The world is going to be one brilliant game short of what it would be if he weren't a smoker, I just know it.

Edit again: Seems like Spore may be his last major project anyway, due largely to the huge amount of time development of a new game takes these days.
