View Full Version : Bazooka aiming?

I went through literally every page (after running a search of the Worms 3D forums and coming up empty) of threads here in the Worms 3D Strat forum and found nothing that specifically covers tips (other than practice in the driving range tutorial) about accurately aiming the bazooka. The only thing I was able to come up with on my own was a make-shift theory, but it's not fool-proof, of course. Here it is in a nutshell though:

I aim at the target (using first-person view) and then raise the trajectory over its head equal to the distance of the target from the bottom of my screen and then guess for wind and distance (with respect to charging the weapon). Sometimes I make my target and sometimes not so much.

I'm hoping that perhaps someone has a science that they can share with me for always making your target with the bazooka (and I suppose any other weapon like it too, as regards its aiming and firing technique, such as the grenade, cluster bomb, etc.).

Personally, I always use maximum power -- it reduces the number of variables I need to consider. Other than that I do what you do, except that I always hit my intended target (although people are beginning to question why I sometimes intend to miss all the enemy worms).

Unless perhaps you can get your hands on a debug version.

What he said. Anyway this is kinda a stupid thread. Mostly everyone uses the same theory, at least the people I know use this. MAX power. CLEAR SIGHT. The hell with the wind. just fire willy-nilly

You can't always have a clear sight though.
If you don't you should get used to the effectedness of the wind.
Then take a guess on how far it is.

Nea. With bazooka aiming it's easy. With grenades I have some problems. Anyway when I play I use bazooka only (sometimes I use other weapons like homing mjissile, shootgun, b bat, fire p, b bomb) :D.

Actually, the Physics behind aiming bazookas and grenade is pretty simple. The question is whether you can bother to apply it.

If you have a rule, protractor and stopwatch, you can technically guarantee a perfect hit every time with either weapon. But, as several people pointed out to me when I first suggested it, it does rather take the fun out of a game.

P.S. A bazooka on full power isn't that dissimilar from a shotgun, if used properly (or a strike, if you're using it for explosive power rather than damage) in as much as you're pretty much guaranteed to hit as long as you time it right. Again, I personally find that lowers the interest of the game. Matter of opinion, though, I suppose.

What? Have you never played W3D? The full-power bazooka isn't that fast. I could throw the thing further than it launches itself.

Not quite...
In W3D, it would be nearly impossible to get the length from a worm to another.

Now u got me confused ppl. I dont know about what game are u speaking anymore. Worms 2D or 3D? Anyway the aiming its similar but in 2D its easyer and simple than in 3D.

I think it depends who you are. The physics and everything is much the same in 2D as 3D, but the method you apply is totally different. Some people will be good at one and some at the other.

That doesn't mean either one is easier, though.

I always aim higher than i think i should, and ussually get a partial hit worth 20ish points of dmg.
