Yea, I keep having this problem from my friends house too. We fowarded all the ports. have the correct IP address for hosting and we still can't connect. We are behind a D-Link 624S Wireless router and we have a cable broadband connection. Please help.

I expect that may be due to some sort of firewall, if you have one. Or you may need a newer patch (if you're talking about W:A).

He has the newest patch. And the only firewall he has is on his computer. The firewall in his router was never configured.

He also has no problem connecting to wormnet when he comes over my house.

I have a netgear WGR614 Wireless router and a cable broadband connection.

I thought the router firewall blocked most traffic by default? Perhaps if it hasn't been configured that's why... though you also mentioned you had forwarded the ports.

Have you tried disabling the computer firewall entirely? That might reveal whether it's the internal firewall or the router that's stopping things happening.

We tried that and allowing the ports through his firewall. But the wierdest part is that he can do direct IP games.

do you have the right IP address specified in the game?

Well of course. I'm a proper host. I know what you need to do

Me too! Before I updated my WA I was able to login but when I tried to join a game it would tell me to update my version of worms, so once I did I kept gettin the same Fatal error. I found out that when I put my old "ServerList" file in the "ServerLobby" folder i'm able to login again, but still not able to connect to a game.

I have this same problem and would do anything to connect, I think theres a new version of the update out, and that might be it. I tried installing that, and it had no effect. If anyone has an answer, they'll be my personal best friend :D

This sounds like something is disallowing traffic on the outgoing port 6667. You mentioned that there is a firewall on his computer. Software firewalls like that are usually the causes of this problem. Try first disabling the software firewall on his computer, then if that works, figure out how to fix it properly. Port 6667 is the port used for WormNET, which is based on IRC. A direct IP game doesn't require a connection to WormNET, so it bypasses any usage of port 6667.

some firewalls uses a CRC method for exceptions to help it protect you from programs masquarading (is this right spelling) as other programs etc. try deleting the exceptions from your firewall, update your game, then add them again.

Lex is right... I had the same problem as you and I've got a router D-Link DI-604 (which sucks) and a LinkSys BEFSR41 v4... you have to forward the ports in the router... some of them cames with a firewall too. Try disabling the OS firewall (if you have WinXP) and then if you have a firewall... you don't either have the need of turning it off... for example I've got Zone Alarm and what I did is to open the port 6667 and let the progam... "WA.exe" run completely free
