I've got a Pentium IV 1.8, with 256mb, running with a Radeon 8500 All in Wonder DV video card, and a Hercules Fortissimo Sound Card on windows ME.

I've got the latest drivers for EVERYTHING including my AGP port, the only way I could get drivers any later, would be by employing Virgin Trains to supply them. :D

And I've got Direct X 8.1.

The install was clean, onto a formatted hard driver, with no previous video cards.

No matter which configuration I choose in Stunt GP's configurtation screen, when Play is pressed, the screen goes black, and after a second, the desktop is redisplayed. :(

The game has Radeon listed as one of the supported graphics cards, I fulfill it's minimum spec by a long, long, way.

I emailed the support department at Eon - and got a bounced mail - have they shut down? I also e-mailed T17's support department over a week ago and got no reply.

Any chance of a bit of help?

Yes, I've read the support page, but the problem I'm experiencing says: "See section 4: Video Drivers" which then tells me about Matrox and Savage cards.

As I have a Radeon . . . this wasn't much help.

I have found some very up to date A-I-W drivers, so I now get a different problem . . . the screen still goes back and returns to the desk top, but now the display is corrupt as well. This does lead me to the impression that it is a display driver problem, to which the solution is always "Get the laytest drivers and Latest Direct X" this I've done, but still no joy.

As I don't have Stunt GP myself it's a bit hard to know what requirements it's needs to run properly, but... As I said to another one for some time ago, have you discovered any problems with other games recently? It could be something with the rastering from the new graphics card, those new (graphics cards)ones is very sensitive with the tweaks and the settings, so it could be something you have to change in that.

When installing StuntGP, it wants to do so directly on the C-drive. Just let it. I mean, don't try to change directories (like make a 'StuntGP' folder in 'Program Files') and install the game where the launcher wants to put it, because if and when you *do* change directories, the game crashes upon opening.

I know, because I *did* change directories and the game didn't start (First time back in 2004, last time just an hour ago when I re-installed the game just for fun). When reverting to a new install without changing the install-path, everything worked A-OK. Just don't set the screen resolution too high (max 800x600) even when you've got a bigger monitor and oomph-ah graphics card, because when you do, there's a lot of lag and stuttering.

Even after all these years, StuntGP still is a fun game with some very nice graphics. A pity there never cam an upgrade or a follow-up. But those are the ways things go, I guess...

This is a known problem.
Changing the installation path is ok, if you do NOT use any spaces in it.
E.g. E:\Games\StuntGP is fine, E:\Games\Stunt GP is not.

IIRC, the same issue occurs with another game released at the same time (WWP?).

Some (all?) Worms 2 versions are also affected.
