What's your Worms Religion? Do you pledge to the Brightside, Darkside or Lightside? :)

For people who forgot or don't know, it's in the Wormpedia (if you unlocked it):

Lightside: A religion which goes more about close combat, fighting to the death, and being brave. :p

Darkside: Sneaky, evil, usually back-stabbing, who likes to dig, hide, and mostly use girders for protection. Uses more homing weapons than close combat.

Greyside: Kind of like a mix between lightside and darkside, but it does have pledge to greyside unlike brightside.

Brightside: A side with no commitments. When it has the occasion, it will choose to be a Darksider or a Lightsider.

Me? I'm a member of the Darkside religion.

There is probably no word in the English language that hasn't been prefixed to "side" on this forum at least once. In general I try to rule out any "side" with only one member, but there are far too many splinter sides that differ only incrementally from each other (the brightside/greyside split being the least of your worries) that I generally just ignore them all completely now.

But i have heard of some "ironside" is this true or false? iron, sewer, sniper, etc etc etc etc etc....there are so damn many of those fake sides that people made up just cause they thought it was cool that it gives me a headache. all those side are based off of the light, dark or grey side. those are the only 3 legitimate sides. the bright side is the group of atheists, they may well be on one specific side, but they refuse to call themselves a lightsider, etc. other than those 4, the other sides are stupid crap people made up and they should be disregarded as the feeble attempts by insecure preteens to be unique :p (note: if you're one of the off-side guys and you're neither a preteen or insecure, I suggest you get a life :p )

Darksider when i'm fooling around with newbs on WormNet, and Greyside when i'm actually playing against competitive players. I'd be Lightside, but on occasion I use girders as protection and use girder packs to guide grenades and stuff through a tunnel-type thing.

I tend to start off Greyside, until I've used up my worms/lightside weapons, then I send my last couple darkside. I usually finish with one worm on abut 25 HP.

Back in W1 I was a darksider alright, I used to be very good with grenades (a nank I've seem to have lost recently, I must practise again) and build crazy tunnel networks and gurder systems. Alas, now in W3D I'm lightsider/ likes to see things go *pop* sider. hopefully W4 will provide somehting akin to tunnels.

Well, it is kind of hard to be a darksider in W3D, since you can't dig, so I tend to be a lightsider.

How can you switch in and out of greyside? There is no greyside tactic set. It's just a name for not really having a tactic set you stick to. He's just a darksider with commitment issues.

hmm...im not sure, all i use is sheeps and other animal weapons and i useually end up commiting suicide by putting a sheep between mysself and the enemy :p

...and here I've been saying for years that everyone fits onto a side....guess I was wrong. :-/

I'm a darksider but still a bit lightsider. If it's Sudden Death i don't hide anymore becuase of the water :)

From what I gather, he two main factions in Worms are the Star-Wars themed Lightside and Darkside; Lightsiders play out in the open, positively and bravely, while Darksiders hide away, play a negative game and are basically cowards (or "tacticians" as they prefer). So far, so simple. Now for the heavy theology.

To Lightsiders, their god is the Concrete Donkey (aka Betong Asna, Swedish for Concrete Donkey - Worms creator Andy Davidson is for some reason a big fan of Swedish), a weapon in the game that is dead handy for getting Darksiders; it will get you, no matter how strong your defences are.

Many Darksiders also worship the Concrete Donkey, because of its great power. But the evilest Darksiders believe in the very peculiar Buffalo of Lies, which is apparantly so evil it's... well, evil. Use your imagination.

To add to the confusion, step forward the Greyside. This is somewhere in between: Greysiders will play like Lightsiders, unless something goes horribly wrong, in which case they fall back on Darkside tactics. As a symbol of their mixed up nature, they worship the compromise Concrete Buffalo. Very strange.

And you probably don't want to know about other hypothesised Sides such as the Sewerside (stuff winning, it's all about having fun and making big explosions) or the Flipside (people so jammy they can do anything and still win hands down), both candidates for the totally bizarre Angular Wooden Giraffe (What the heck's it for?). It's all nuttier than squirrels in the mating season...

(Incidentally, the origins [if not the purpose] of the AWG are now known - it was a small wooden ornament with a missing ear, that used to reside at T17 HQ. For some reason, Mr. Davidson took a shine to it, hence its slightly bizarre position in the Worms mythology).

The loopiness of it all is why, personally, I go for the Atheist option. Stuff all these bizarre beliefs, I just play as I see fit, depending on the situation. It makes life a lot easier... And after all (cheesy soundbite approaching) "You're not out there to good or bad, but to do business" (i.e. Paul.Power's Worm's Sayings No. 4)

That barely qualifies as "lightside" as I understand it. Those are rather cheap weapons to my mind.

Worms 3D was like it didn't had sides at all. You could only hide behind some map objects like tanks or in bunkers. Unless you used the shotgun in D-Day to make a hole to hide in.

The only reason why I played so horribly that time was because I was up all night typing up a religion project due that day and afterwards someone dragged me into "Worms 3D" :p . No new religion for me...I was a tired lightsider. Back to the topic :D .
