Last updated: 20th October, 2005

As with WFUS, the only official release dates are found on www.wormsmayhem.com and www.codemasters.com/worms

Currently the release date are:

Europe, PC Version:

NOW AVAILABLE

DELAYED!
Sadly, the PC version has been delayed until the 5th of August 2005, due to problems with distribution and duplication. PS2 and XBox versions still set for release on the 29th of July. It is not known if this change will affect the Australian version.

Australia, PC, PS2 and XBox versions:
It seems that, like the European version, the Australian PC version will be delayed as well. It appears it will be released on the 12th of August. See Bolton's thread in 'Sources' below.

The console versions still appear to be on track to be released on the 5th of August.

USA/Canada, PC, PS2 and XBox versions:

XBOX AND PC VERSIONS NOW AVAILABLE

PC VERSION DELAYED??

There are rumours flying around about the PC version being delayed (well, it hasn't shipped yet, so we assume it is delayed!). Current rumours of a release date are the 17th of October - nothing has been confirmed by Majesco or Team17. Update: According to sources on the forum, it appears the PC version has been released, although some people are having difficulty tracking it down in certain shops.

Spadge has confirmed that there will be NO PS2 version in America. Both PC and XBox versions will support online play. See the first source link for more info.

Majesco are publishing the USA PC and XBox versions - there will be no PS2 version.

The XBox and PC versions are now available. See the "Majesco" sources link below for the full press release. Also, see http://www.team17.com

Other territories and other platforms:
Unconfirmed. There will not be a GC version, a Linux version looks unlikely and there is no news of a mac version (also looking unlikely).
Russia/Poland is yet to be confirmed but may happen after localisation

Digital Release (PC Version only)
Likely to be with Trymedia, but this is not confirmed, nor is the release date. See "Useful Links" for more info.

Demo Information - See 'Useful Links' for links to threads about the demo

The first PC demo is now available for download - see the third thread in this post for mirrors. It can be downloaded from here: http://www.codemasters.co.uk/downloads/?downloadid=19121 It is not confirmed that this is a different version to the one previously released.

The PC demo is scheduled to be released on June the 23rd. This version will not support online play. This demo is now available Note: An older version of the demo was leaked two days before the official release date. A more up-to-date version will be released as scheduled on the 23rd. Please see the posts below for more info

A PC demo that will support online play is now available. See the last post in this thread for links.

Console demos should also be released in June (Europe only), although there is an XBox demo already available on the Official Xbox Magazine (June issue) - this may only be in the UK.

According to some users, there is also a PS2 demo available on various magazine covers.

Source for the above: http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=24040

Here's a different quote from Spadge (this was in a thread that got removed due to it being off-topic):Since the released slipped to July (instead of May) the demo for PC will now come out during June, as will the console demos. A further PC online demo is currently pencilled in for 1-2 weeks before release.

There's a fair bit of replay value in the demo, but obviously nothing like the final game - which we're still working on polishing up.
There is an XBox demo available on the Official XBox Magazine (may only be in the UK)

16th March, 2005: I decided to add the date on the Codemasters' website as well as the one on T17's W4 website. Codemasters give the European release date as May 2005, while Team17 give it as Q2 2005. Believe whichever one you want :)

DEMO Informaion
PS2 and X-Box demos have been kicking around on magazine disks for days, but the PC demo was leaked earlier today. The official release, with more up-to-date code and fewer bugs (for the same low, low price of zero), is on Thursday, as I understand it.

This demo does not feature a lot of options that will be in the full game -- please check the forum for discussion of these features in the months between W4 being announced and the moment you click "search" before asking "Option X isn't in the demo. Is it in the full version?", particularly if option X is "invert mouse" or any variant thereof.
